Missoula Marathon

Ran the Missoula Marathon yesterday in 3:21. Placed 89th out of over 1200 overall and 8th out of 62 in my age division. I don't like tooting my own horn but not bad for this old man's first 26.2. The ice bath felt like heaven.

Jim - that is amazing! I am so incredibly impressed. 8th place? Does this qualify you for other races? Will we see you in Chicago in October? I hope so! Congratulations! I would feel so proud if I were you - and we are proud of you!

Diz-my time does qualify me for Boston but I don't think I'll partake. Tom and I were thinking about Chicago but it closed before we could register. Just to clarify, 89th overall/8th in my age division.
I was sorry to hear you won't be able to make it to the family picnic. You will be missed.

Ok, one of my closest friends just ran the Boston Marathon and she said it was a once in a lifetime amazing experience. The ENTIRE marathon is lined with people - never a moment where there aren't people cheering you on. She got her best time ever and said it was worth every dime!! I really think you should do it - not everyone is fast enough to earn that kind of privilege and you should do it.

Congrats! That is pretty sweet!

Good job, Jim! Big time running. Nice placement for a guy who's pushin' 50.

Way to go little bro! I am with Hannah - just do it!! Not everyone can qualify for the Boston Marathon and the fact that you did it in your first marathon race is amazing!! Go for it!

Jim I was very very impressed! I wanted to do the Missoula one, but opted for Bozo instead....should have gone with my gut. I can honestly say I know how you feel, and just a little word of advice, jump in a pool and do some swimming. I did after I ran and I was a LOT less sore afterwards. Congrats again, and I echo the comments of mom and Hannah, I think you should do the Boston marathon, you earned it!

I don't think I've run 26.2 miles in the last month combined. That is really awesome.

Again, congrats Jim. That's an awesome time. I'm thinking about going and running 3 miles tonight... I couldn't even imagine doing 23 more. Awesome job!

I'll miss you guys, too. Very sad not to be there. If you run Boston we'll fly out and support you! Also, Abe thinks there is still a way to register for Chicago - through one of the charities. If you want me to look into it I would be happy to! Hope to see you soon in any event.

I ran 7 minutes this morning with my kids and thought I kicked ass. Congrats on the 26.2 MILES and I can say I'll never join you!

Jim that is so amazing! Peter and I have been talking about the Boston Marathon (not doing it - but going to sell our pain patches! Sadly, I can barely run 2 miles). Peter's mom and dad live right outside of Boston and would love to host you if you decide to go for it! Might make it more of an option for you? I hope you do it! Such a fantastic opportunity. Congratulations!
