Henry Thomas Buyske

Henry Thomas Buyske joined us last night at 10:35 PM.  He weighed in at 9lbs7oz and was 22 in. long.  Erin and Henry are doing great, and we were so glad we could experience this process in the comfort of our own home.  It made a world of difference.  The labor wasn't easy, but Erin did great and we were all surprised at the size of this boy.  I guess us Buyske boys can only make more Buyske boys!  Hope everyone is well and we get to touch base over the holiday season.  Take care!  Love, Joey, Erin, and Henry.

Cousin Christmas Charity

Hello my wonderful cousins!

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season. I love seeing pictures from all of the new additions and I love that our family keeps growing.  This time of year is busy for everyone, but I wanted to start the process of drawing a charity for us to donate to this year.  Last year it was the Wounded Warrior Project (Nick's pick) so we will leave his choice out.  This is the list from last year:

  • Philpots - Camp Make-a-Dream
  • Abe Moore - Helena Food Share
  • Joey Buyske - Center for Children and Families in Billings
  • Haradens - Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Nate Moore - Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Mike Buyske - Wounded Warrior Project
  • Meuniers - Alzheimer's Association
  • Ben Wingerter - Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research (great 30 for 30 on him, btw)
  • Jen Buyske - Ronald McDonald House
  • Madison Wingerter - Great Falls Central's Father Mac's scholarship fund
  • Bortens - Oxfam (I'm pretty sure the "Oxfam, bitches" comment last year was from Bri)
  • Somervilles - Angel Fund
  • Sam Wingerter - Wounded Warrior Project
  • Jake Wingerter - Clinica Esperanza
  • Matt Buyske - Catholic Community Services
  • Schultes - Angel Fund
If you would like to change your charity, please suggest a new one in the comments.  I am willing to do the drawing this year, or Nate, if you would like to do it again (you did a killer job last year), then please feel free.

Love you all!

I want to wish everyone in this family-from 90 year olds to 10 day olds-a very happy Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for, so let's not forget all our blessings. Safe travels to all those journeying out to visit friends and relatives for a celebration.

A bit of history

This evening, I attended a talk at the Montana Historical Society by Ken Robison, author of Confederates in Montana Territory. The publisher is History Press. Take a look at the photo in the top middle of the cover. Chapter 9 of the book covers the Moore brothers, Perry and John, along with mention of other family members. Earlier, I shared an article by Mr. Robison (essentially the same information). I talked with him this evening, and he's interested in learning more about the Moores. He was particularly interested in Nancy Moore's diary on the trip from Missouri to Montana. A couple years ago, I met a couple members of the Hall family who have the original diary. I will work to put Ken Robison in touch with them. Anyway, you may find the book interesting. I also talked with Scott Hibbard (of the "northern" Sieben Ranch), who asked about Jim (the elder). He's interested in finding out more about Jim's novels.

Happy Belated Birthday, Will!

To an amazing nine year old!
He was the leader of that crazy pack at Molly's wedding; a ring bearer extraordinaire; an all around Captain America!!  We love you like crazy, Will boy!  Happy 9th birthday (a day late!!)

New Lt. Commander Mike

We just spent a fun filled weekend in Silverdale, WA with Michael on his 37th birthday.  Kelly and boys drove down Saturday afternoon and Matt joined us that evening after work.  Michael had asked his commander if Matt could swear him in and we could pin him.  With that permission, the "ceremony" was held Saturday night after the ND game!  So proud of both boys as they have both achieved the Lt. Commander rank!  There is a picture of all the Buyske boys minus Grampa and Joey.  Teddy entertained himself with Michael's pots and pans!  We enjoyed playing with all five boys!!  Congratulations to you, Michael!!

I wish I could be there to celebrate with you, but I am glad Mom & Dad will be able to join in the fun (and the Buyske clan making a belated birthday entrance)! Love you big bro!! And congrats again on your promotion!

Pasta Sauce

I'm still picking tomatoes out of the garden. After the first frost on September 12, the weather has been cooperating to produce great produce. Today, I canned six quarts of pasta sauce. Bring on the spaghetti!

Salsa!

We grew a lot of tomatoes this summer. So, of course, I made a lot of salsa. We also grew some peppers, but most of the other ingredients came from the Helena Farmers Market – Terry Johnson grows the biggest green peppers you'll ever see. I still have salsa in the pantry going back to 2012, so bring on the tortilla chips!

And...Nick is 28!

Yep!  Nick's birthday was yesterday as well.  I thought I would let Jimmy's post stand alone for a day.  But now it is time to shout to the mountains that Nickolas Jorge Wingerter is 28 years old!  Nick is such a joy to us...He is so spiritual, faith filled, loving, giving, funny, caring, and dedicated.  He is doing the OCS (Officers' Candidate School) in the Army Guard, working at UGF and helping coach our middle school football team.  He is one busy guy and smiling all the way through.  Happy Birthday Nick!  We love you tons!  And we are so glad you are not celebrating this birthday in Kuwait!!

Happy Birthday, Jim (Ragnar Superstar)

Happy Birthday, Jim!  I have to say, regardless of age (he's turning 51), Jim showed us young bucks that he can still kick our butts when it comes to running.

Some of you saw on Facebook and Instagram that a group of us (Jim, my dad, my mom, and I from the Moore family) ran the Napa Valley Ragnar Relay.  This was a 12 person - 205 mile relay run from Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to Calistoga.  Over the Golden Gate, winding through the NorCal farm land, and running into the rolling hills of Napa, it was a grueling 33 hours of running, navigating, and "sleeping" in a 12 passenger van.  It was awesome.  The quick version of the race is you have a 12 person team that runs 3 legs of the race each.  Your van completes 6 legs, you hand off to your teammates van, they complete 6 legs, and then it's back to you.  Complete that three times.

Jim looking biblical gearing up for the heat in his last leg
Even more awesome was Jim absolutely killing the hardest run in the Ragnar Relay circuit.  On our third legs, all of our limbs felt like they had 50 pound weights tied to them.  It was rough.  Jim went out and ran his third leg, an 11.4 mile run, in the heat of the day and beat his estimated pace time.  That run put him at a total of 30 miles in less than 30 hours.  Seriously impressive.

"Eternal Glory" - He didn't even seem out of breath after going 11.4
After all was said and done, team "Outta Your Mind" finished 85th out of 500+ teams in the Co-Ed Division.  We averaged 9:35 miles for 205 miles and finished in 33 hours and some change which we were all very impressed with. It was an unreal race that challenged you in a ton of ways but in the end the stories and memories were what stuck with you (along with these muscle aches we're all dealing with).

So Happy Birthday, Jim!  It was a blast getting to spend the weekend with you and run like we did.  I hope I'm moving like you do when I'm 51!

"Outta Your Mind" - Finished!

Happy 27th Birthday, Shannon!

I wanted to wish the best sister a brother could ask for a very happy 27th birthday.  She's also the best nurse any kid in Sheridan could ask for too.  My parents would tell you she's the best daughter and then Birch told me she's a pretty awesome wife as well.  A jack of all trades.

In the last year Shannon has moved into a new house, started a new job in Sheridan, and even added a puppy to the mix (that dog is damn cute, too).  She even took a shot to the cheek bone during an ultimate tube ride this summer, wanted to keep riding even after it happened, and was a trooper through the surgery and soft food diet afterwards.  She's one tough girl.

I love ya, Shannon.  I hope you have an awesome birthday in Sheridan and celebrate this weekend in Bozeman.  You're the best.

Love, Nate.. (Mom & Dad are here too)
