Summer of Moore Fun

Thought I'd post some pictures of the summer.
Dang! What a great family.
First a shared Birthday Party - our Notre Dame Boys.
Second a buncha hugs at the wedding...aw look at them all!
Third the sibs at their wedding best.
And finally the boys of summer at the Moore Reunion.

Live from the Zoo

Hey guys! Lovely to hear all of the happenings around the family as always. You all are so awesome! So a little bit about my life these days: I just started a new job and new school year here in lovely and ever so eccentric Missoula Montana. I am taking 17 credits this semester, my second as a liberal studies student at the U. Could be fun. I also just started my new position as Catholic Campus Ministry intern at Christ The King Church. held our new intern/semester planning retreat last week at Flathead Lake. We got a lot of work done and had a lot of fun too. Now I am just trying to get back to my college livelihood and adjust to the new crazy schedule. That's about all. Have a good semester all cousin students, and good luck and all y'all do! Love you guys like crazy!

Happy Birthday, Ma Moore!

I couldn't resist posting a photo of our mafiosa Mama on the occasion of her birthday. As Aurie recently noted, Mom was gung ho at the Family Reunion. And certainly we all know her as The General -- unwilling to quit the party until everyone has followed her order to "go to bed!"

All that aside, we love you, Mom, and hope that you are having a great birthday. We all -- kids and grandkids and great-grandkids -- appreciate every thing you do for every one of us. You're the tops!

Happy Birthday Mom

You beat me to the punch Jen. Happy birthday mom. Hope you had a great day!
Hello wonderful family!! There are two significant events to report! First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA JEANNE!!!! I hope your day is full of many blessings! You are an inspiration to us all!! Second, I would like to announce the birth of Benedict Douglas Buyske. He shares his birthday with Grandma, and a day early from what was supposed to be his birthday, who says Buyskes aren't punctual?? :) Hope everyone has a great day!!!

By the way, Ben is 9 pounds and 21 inches long....we do things big in the Buyske clan! :)

Love you all,
Jen

Another alien wedding

Some of you may remember that last summer, we had friends from Slovenia who got married in Helena -- on August 16, 2006. Well, this summer, on August 17, we had another wedding among Slovenian friends. Boštjan TrampuŽ and Viktorija Furman tied the knot during a brief visit to Montana. They arrived August 15, got married August 17, and departed for home on August 22. We wish them all the best.

Portlandian news

Well, the summer has been treating us right - we just got back from vacation in beautiful Victoria, BC. I highly recommend it to all for a leisurely time, especially the Butchart Gardens! We are working on opening the cafe - slowly but surely. We hired a great manager and are planning to be open by October 15th if all goes smoothly. We have been taking hypnobirthing classes (which I highly recommend - Kelly and Maurika) and are preparing our lives for the arrival of Sabina. Interestingly, we found out that there is a Sabino valley in Arizona - which is fantastic since Sabina will officially be Arizona.
Bummed that we missed the big family powwow and look forward to attending the next one. Thank you to everyone who has been posting info and pictures from the event!
Love you,
Briana

Hello From the Lou

Hello wonderful family. this has been the first real chance to post since i have been down here. First off, the city is way better than i thought it would be. there are a lot of places for younger people to hang out at. we had an awesome orientation week. they had set it up to give us a lot of chances to meet each other outside of a school scenario. so far i'm the only one from montana.

we are just finishing our second week of classes. the school material itself is not too difficult, the volume is another story. i usually start at 8 in the morning and stay until about 6 at night. its a little bit different than the undergrad stuff.

all in all, i am happy with my situation down here. the house is good, my roommates are good guys, and as long as i stay on top of my studying i will be ok. i do miss montana, my family, and my friends but i am doing what i feel is right for me in my life right now. hope to talk to everyone soon.

Love
Jake

P.S. I believe I will be attending my first ND football game this year. it is the october 13th game vs BC. one of my buddies down here went there for undergrad so we are heading up the friday before. Yippie!!!!

The family gathering was a joy.  But just about the time I began to get the youngest of the generations straight in my mind, it came to an end.  So many of them and all so attractive and personable!

Let it be known that Jim (the younger) volunteered to ramrod the next gathering.  He said it would be in five years.  I reminded him that by then he might be Jim (the elder.)

Thanks to all the ones who did the work to make it possible for us to get together.  The WSS venue was ideal.

Peaceful setting

I know I speak for our entire family to say that we are totally bummed that we didn't make it to the ranch tour and festivities that followed, looks like it was a lot of fun, and LIVELY! Things were pretty dead in these pics...heh heh heh.

First, Mark holding down the fort with the kids and well...kids.

While Second and Third, Jim the elder narrated the graveyard tour and told tales of years past...

Finally, our Rileigh with one of the two fabulous goats added to our mix, Sugar.
Picture perfect.

Moore photos

You want it, you got it.
First, Aurie pledging allegiance to the plaque. This was at the ranch house after Monday's dinner.

Second, a dime-store cowboy who managed to work his way into my sister Mary's heart and (presumably) beget six children. He seems right at home in the Two Dot Bar.

Third, one of my favorite cousins in one of her least favorite poses. Too bad, the Two Dot Bar will do that to ya. Behind Becky and to your
left is her husband, Brian. He's a fine musician and bass player extraordinaire -- and a great guy to boot.

Pics to ponder ...

Here are a few more pics from the party. First, we we see the method Nate and Ben's spirited bidding at the auction on Sunday. Meanwhile, on the right, Buck once again challenges the legitimacy of the auction action.

Second, here's a terrific trio -- Ellen (Moore) Hanser, Jeanne (Poirier) Moore, and Harry (Cog) Cosgriffe. The scene is the bench overlooking the old sheep shed on the ranch. Mom's hairstyle is just a result of that good ol' Wheatland County wind.

Third, another scene from the ranch -- Madison, Beryl, and Jim at Lookout Point. I don't know the Tice descendent in the foreground. Despite the smoky haze, the view was grand.

Reunion Recall

Figured I'd better put these up before Nate recaps the whole weekend. Definitely missed out on the Two Dot bar experience if you weren't there. Definitely worth the road trip to spend some quality time in White Sulphur.

Just Push Play

Here is a small sample of Jim and his auctioneering skills. I have to say, he did a bang up job. I mean if you can sell a basket of beer, peanuts, and salami for somewhere around $85 then I think you're doing a good job.

Happy Birthday Big O!

I know this is the Moore family blog, but we all know and love Orvis Goetz, Grandpa John Moore's former business associate and grandfather to John C. Moore's progeny. He's quite the fisherman, and recently made his annual trek to Alaska in search of king and koho salmon. Here's a pic from the trip a few years ago, when I was lucky enough to join him. It was great to sit on the boat and hear tales of his trips around Montana with Grandpa John and his all terrain Volkswagon.
Happy Birthday, Grampa O!

More Pics Please

Thanks for the pictures of the reunion, everyone! Wish I'd been there, but I was standing in a wedding in Fredricksburg, Virginia - situs of several key battles in the War Between the States. The wedding was between a Chicago groom and a Virginia bride (I introduced them to one another!), so the attendees were pretty evenly split between descendants of Yanks and Rebels. Between my current residence and our family history, I was able to claim both sides.

Anyway, I thought I'd drop a note here to tell those who haven't been over to the Perry Moore blog lately to go check it out. They are kicking y'all's butts when it comes to posting about the reunion...

Images from the Reunion

It doesn't seem that photos do justice to the memories of Moores on the merry. It was such a fine time all the way around, and that certainly didn't happen by chance. Many thanks to Aurie, Jan, and all the others who pitched in their time and effort to make it happen.

This photo shows the jury-rigged stage for music on Sunday. We did stay dry.

This photo came from Coffin Butte, part of the ranch tour on Monday. Of the missing siblings, Tom and crew had already departed for home; Connie was at the ranchhouse with Bill, anticipating the fine dinner.

More to come as the mood strikes. Get your photos up here, too, okay?

Otherwise engaged

I'm glad the reunion was so fun. While you were all partying down, Jake was officially entering med school. Jake, Emma, and I enjoyed a hot, sweaty weekend in St. Louis. Enjoy the pictures!

Go Goats!

All right, all right... I will put up a non-partison picture from the family reunion. Rileigh and Shannon are seen here with one of the newest additions of the Wells family. There is no word yet on if the two week old goat will wear a Bobcat or Griz hat.

SO fun...and informative

I just have to give a big shout out to those who put the whole Moore Family Reunion together! It was so great to meet the family I have never met and learn a whole lot more about my background. It was simply enjoyable listening to Jim (the elder) and Uncle Buck regale stories of their childhood. Bummer to those of you who couldn't make it, you really missed out. Hopefully we will have another soon! *Note: this last sentence does not mean that I want to have anything to do with planning. ;) Thanks again and I hope those of you who did make it had an absolute blast! Light Blue Power!!

One Smart Wells Boy

Nick and I were talking yesterday and all of a sudden noticed that Truman had a Bobcats hat on. This is an unplanned picture and there was no posing of any kind done before this snapshot was taken. I report, you decide.
