Update

Ok, so I have heard from almost everyone regarding the BBQ and golf outing.  Here is a list of the confirmed for the BBQ and what people have said they will bring.  If you see something missing on here, feel free to write in the comments area what you will be bringing.

·
Matt, Kelly, & Family – side dish, dessert, meats (brats, hot dogs, etc)
·             Abe & Diz
·             John & Ann
·             Mike
·             Mom & Dad – burgers, potato salad
·             Jen – beverages (pop, water, alcohol)
·             Molly & Shane – chips, veggies, dip
·             Meghan & kids
·             Jake
·             Geigers
·             Rika, Mark, & Family
·             Briana, Peter, and Sabina

As for the golf tournament, I think we are going to be playing at the Par 3 golf course.  There is a   Senior High alumni thing going on that starts at 9:30, so we can get on before then at 8:45.  The plan is   to draw names for the twosomes, then pair up and play as foursomes.  Tom suggested we create an A and B pool for those who golf a lot, or at least enough, and those who don't really golf much.  Then we pair an A with a B so the teams are fair.  I thought this was a good idea so we can do that on Friday at the BBQ.  The greens fees are $20 for 18 holes, and $15 for a cart.  We might not have access to any carts because of the Senior event, but we really shouldn't need them anyway.  What I was thinking is each person could pay $25, and the extra $5 would be put into the pot for the winning team and prizes for longest putts and closest to the pin.  If there's anything I am missing, let me know.  Otherwise it should be a great time.  Following is the list of confirmed I have for the mini-tourney:
·             Matt
·             Abe
·             Mike
·             Joey
·             Shane
·             Jim W.
·             Jake
·            Nick
·            Ben
·            Nate
·            Sam (walking)
       Burt & Greg Geiger (possibly)

Family picnic on Sunday

As I said before the family picnic will be Sunday at Rose park. I have invited the Haradens, Reardons and Wingerters along with Uncle John and Jule to the picnic also, so there may be a big bunch. I reiterate that my generation is responsible for salads and side dishes and the next generation is responsible for deserts and snacks. Everyone will bring their own drinks. I will take up a collection to help pay for the pavillion when we are there. I was thinking fried chicked but it has also been suggested that we have sub sandwiches. Let me know what you prefer--no speak up, no vote!!!!!

I hope this finds everyone eagerly anticipating the weekend to come in a couple of weeks.  I am excited to see everyone and wanted to bring you all up to speed on a couple of things.  First, on Friday, July 20th, Shannon and Birch will be having their rehearsal dinner.  Because most of the family will be in town on Friday, and not everyone will be attending the rehearsal, I thought it would be fun to have a BBQ at Nate's and my house.  Everyone is invited.  We will have a new deck built, some yard games to be played, a park with a pool half a block away, and lots of food and beverages.  I don't know why you wouldn't want to come!  So if you could post on the blog something that you could bring, I could figure out what I need to round up on my end.

Second, I thought it would be really fun on Saturday morning to play some golf.  Anyone is invited to play, and I was thinking of doing either nine holes at the regulation golf course, or 18 holes at the par 3.  I figure both would take about the same amount of time.  My idea was to do a 2-person scramble, so it won't take us forever.  We could randomly draw names from a hat to pair up, then play as foursomes once we get to the course.  I also thought it would be fun to include some prizes for closest to the pin, long drive (if we play at the regulation course), and longest putt.  So this post is also to see who may be interested in participating in something like that.  I would need to know fairly soon as I would have to call the public course to see if they have anything going on that day and set up some tee times, or talk to the pro shop at the par 3 to do the same thing.  Aunts and uncles who read this, if you could pass it on to the Facebookers who rarely come on here anymore, I would greatly appreciate it.

I hope everyone has been having a great summer and surviving this heat.  Moorefest 2012 is shaping up to be epic, so bring your party pants and plenty of energy!  See you all soon.
