European Sojourn

Ann and I spent an enjoyable couple of weeks on a trip. The first part focused on Innsbruck, Austria - where Maurika was born 50 years ago.

This is the whole group in front of the Goldenes Dachl in the Old Town .

(from left) Peter, Sailor, Briana, me, Maurika, Truman, Piper, Ann, Phoenix.

We saw other sites, including the hovel outside of Hungerburg where we lived when Maurika was a newborn.

Then Ann and I peeled off to Slovenia to visit some old musician friends.  First Boštjan and Viktoria Trampuż .They came from their new home in Germany to spend some time.

And we got to spend some time with the Čelik family, 17 years after Jimmy and Jadranka got married in Helena.

They got busy, too. Their daughters are Nola and Zoja.

All in all, we had a great time.

Its been a long time!

Hello all you wonderful people!  Just scrolling through my computer while hanging out at the home with Jim, and came across this wonderful fount of Moore family news  Jim had a total knee replacement yesterday and is recovering at home.  He is doing very well and already looking at very boring legislative news.  Blah!

Please keep him and Jimmy in your prayers on their roads to healing!

Sending love and peace~

News

So I recently realized, after talking to a few cousins, that our newest news may not be widely known...Dee and I are expecting our 3rd baby in August!!! It's super exciting and things are going well. Dee is not looking forward to being pregnant during the summer but other than that no problems. The due date is the 25th but I am really hoping for the 27th so our little "Baby Puggle" and Grandma could share a birthday. We are waiting to find out the gender.

Otherwise life in CO is good. COVID definitely threw a massive wrench into clinic. We were super, super slow since kids weren't going to school and therefore not swapping germs for us to treat. Things have started to pick up again though, as people are getting back together. I haven't been seeing much COVID coming through which is a good sign. Dee is looking to start a more steady gig after baby is born. She has been working as a Locum Tenens doc and filling in when clinics need help, but with the crazy low numbers she has basically had no work for a year. She is excited to get back into it.

The boys are great. Dex is 3 now and Ozzie is 2. They are hilarious and frustrating and sweet and maniacal - often all of those within 10 minutes. Both are healthy and growing great. Declan for sure gets that there is a baby coming which is really cool.

I hope everyone is doing well. Unfortunately we aren't gonna make the family picnic this year. Dee will be in the middle of a 6 week gig that she can't take time off of and I am saving up PTO for when baby comes. I really miss everyone and can't wait to see your beautiful faces.

Love to all,

Jake

Congrats to Meghan and Ryan!

Okay ... maybe not a lot of folks pay attention to this blog, but it seems like a good spot to offer congratulations to Meghan and Ryan for both being honored (once again) as Distinguished Educators by their students and the Helena Education Foundation.

You can view the overall results here ... you can find Ryan on page 43 and Meghan on page 60.

So pleased they are doing such great jobs ... and being recognized for it!

Happy Birthday, Marc!

Although not much gets posted on this blog these days, we can't let a big event like Marc's 70th birthday slide by.  So ... Happy Birthday to the family's newest septuagenarian. (I figure he'll like a word like that.)  We hope it's a great day, leading to great times.

Happy Birthday, CJ!

Connie's birthday is March 31st.  No need to count the years, but here are a few facts.  She is the oldest child of John and Jeanne.  She was born in Bozeman, where Dad was attending college.  She was valedictorian of her high school class.  She graduated from Carroll College.  She was a crackerjack medical technician who spearheaded technological change in the hospital lab.  And on and on.

Here are a couple early photos ...

Here's a photo of the infant John Poirier in 1932, along with Mom as an eight-year-old.  The second photo, a couple years later, shows the three kids with their mom.

Congrats to Dinger!

L. James has been appointed to District Administrator for Montana Department of Transportation in Great Falls.  This is a big deal.  Of the five MDT districts, Great Falls covers a lot of territory -- Canada to Helena (north to south) and Havre to Cut Bank (east to west).

Several years ago, Dinger attended one of my introductory management classes.  It took place at the FWP regional office at Giant Springs.  In introducing himself to the group, he said he wanted to move up in MDT, being able to advance in spite of the "good ol' boy" culture in the agency.

Looks like he got his wish -- with a lot of hard work to get there.

Congratulations!

Billings Buyskes

In regard to Johnny's previous post, I thought I would update everyone with the goings-on of the Billings Buyskes.  Everyone is doing well, first of all.  Erin is still running her preschool and doing an amazing job.  She also sings in two choirs at church, teaches two classes at Musikgarten (music classes for preschool-aged kids), teaches an online graduate-level class at MSU-B for aspiring teachers, buys and sells clothing on Poshmark and Facebook Marketplace, and is currently taking a class to move up in her Stars designation for her preschool.  Whew!  She certainly does a lot.

Henry is attending preschool three days a week for a half-day and is doing very well there.  He's meeting new friends and getting a feeling for school as he will be entering kindergarten next year.  Harrison holds down the fort at home when his big brother is gone and is doing well also.  Both boys love playing with each other (sometimes), reading books, and "fighting" with me.  It's all fun and games now, but I'm not sure I'll be able to hang when they get older.

I am still teaching at Will James Middle School and enjoying my classes.  I also recently decided to start a photography business as I've been taking pictures for a while now and I figured I could try to make a little money on the side with it.  If you're interested, my business is Buyske Photography and you can check out my website from the link.

That's about it for now.  We are just chugging along in our little family unit and enjoying watching the boys grow and mature.  Hopefully we can touch base with family this summer or as the occasion comes up.  Happy New Year!

Update

Hello my wonderful family!

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and will be celebrating the New Year in style. Us Colorado Wingys will be celebrating in our new home! The new address is 381 Lodgewood Ln, Lafayette, CO 80026.

We are all still just chugging on. I love my new clinic here. Dee has started a new job where she fills in at different clinics around the area when needed. It is very flexible and she is enjoying it so far. Declan is now 22 mo old and super entertaining. He has new words everyday. He is starting to have an opinion on things now which is interesting but fun in its own way. Owen is 8 mo old. He has a smile that lights up the room but has an enormous temper when we can't figure out what he wants. Both of them are doing great.

If anyone makes it down into the area we have enough room to actually entertain now so let us know!

Love you all!!!

Jake

Buildup to the Big Game

Just wanted to share what MSU has become famous for in the National spotlight.  Guess you gotta be famous for something...

UPDATE:  It has come to the editor's attention that the logo in the video may not resemble that of an MSU Bobcat.  This publication must correct the above post to state that the reader is correct.  The logo in the video is far too aggressive and facing the wrong direction (most likely towards the endzone) to be an MSU Bobcat.

Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic

Maria and I went early to Ann Morrison park to see some hot air balloon action Sunday morning. 50 balloons in all but only 30 took off because of some boxed winds aloft. Quite a site though.
