CHAMPIONS!

Sam's team, the Great Falls Electrics, won the Northern A district tournament in Fort MaCleod Alberta. They won four straight games and qualified to go to the state tournament in Billings beginning Thursday. As the scoreboard says, we romped through the last game, and yes we are the home team! This is the first district champion team from Great Falls in a long time. Many of the teams in our district are the only team in town so they have a lot of older players..18 and 19 year olds. We are a "feeder" team for a AA team so we have younger kids playing...mostly 16 and 17 year olds. So this team really rocks!!
Congratulations Sam! Have fun in Billings and play well.
We love ya tons!

Awesome write up in the Trib....

Great Falls starter Destin Wassmann made a quick exit from the game in the second inning without retiring a batter as the Miners scored nine runs. Sam Wingerter came on in relief and cooled off the opposing bats, pitching five innings and allowing only two more runs.
"Sam Wingerter came in to put the fire out," Napierala said. "He's kind of an off-speed guy. He did a great job keeping them off balance."
A heavy dose of curveballs and changeups from Wingerter left the Miners flailing unimpressively. His long relief performance garnered him the win while Lethbridge's starter Russell Maxwell, who was knocked around for 14 runs during his three innings, took the loss.

Excellent Job Sam!!!

I was confused. 25 - 14? Looks like a football score. Congrats on the win, and good luck at state!
