Happy Birthday Johnny!!

So I am posting a picture of John with all his siblings because it's a great picture and because he never seems to like all the attention on himself. One of my favorite memories of John (as sharing something about family members on their birthdays is a new trend I am trying to set)is that on my sixteenth birthday he told me that the sky was the limit. My request was to go sleigh riding. So up into the Montana Mountains we went to this tucked away fanatastic cabin where I indeed got a honest to goodness old fashioned horse pulled sleigh ride. It was awesome. I think of John and I think of thick black sharpie markers and the political cartoons he would draw on his old chipped desk in Boulder. The list could go on but I am leaving it to ya'll to continue it.
Happy Birthday, John.
Much Love, Hannah

Let me be the first to comment. As you can see, Johnny has his hand around my neck! Those are the memories that I have growing up :) He was always hiding and doing weird things to scare me! But I wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the world! Happy birthday, Johnny!! Thank you for sharing your delicious cake with us tonight!

one of my favorite things about John is his amazing ability to let us, all of us - grow and be who we are... he has celebrated us, stood by us, and taught us to do the same for others. oh! and he taught me how to have brilliant handwriting just like his!... love you very much papa john, m.

happy birthday john!!! I absolutely love his passion for music!! I love watching him play, whether it is with one of the many bands that he is a part of or by himself, I always have a great time and I can tell it is something he loves to do! Thanks for keeping us entertained throughout the years John!

One of my favorite things about John is that it's impossible to get him to say a bad thing about another person. He is just very understanding and forgiving. He is also a huge fan of ridiculous puns, which we all mercifully forgive in return.

Happy birthday John! I always love hearing about all the ways you tortured my mom growing up! There are some classics! I also love your creative spirit and your ability to just be goofy!! Have a good one!

Hope you had a great day. My favorite memory is the few gigs I was able to play with my big brother.

Thank you all. What a great gift! I had a nice, relaxing day, capped with a wonderful home-cooked meal and a visit by Jan and Marc -- they came for da cake. We're all blessed with a close and dear family. Always remember the joy of that. Love y'all.

I realize that I am chiming in a bit late here, but again Happy Birthday Papa!
I have so many wonderful memories of John, and along the lines of what Abe said - one of my favorite things about John is his integrity and his compassion. He is always trying to understand rather than judge. I often here myself thinking WWJD? (What would John do?)
I love you soo much,
Briana
