In honor of Memorial Day and dad I thought I would share a little bit of his military history and post this pretty cool video of the last flying P-38's.
For those of you that might not know, 1st Lieutenant John Moore was in the Army Air Corp during WWII for 3 1/2 years spending most of his time stationed on the Aleutian Islands flying patrol in the Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
Of the over 10,000 P-38's built, these three are the only ones left flying.
Dad flew one heck of airplane.

Dear Mr. Shmoore...This video made me cry. How proud the American people must be of their soldiers. God bless them all and God bless the Moore family...From Teresa Shirkie

Jim, Thanks for such a great post. It's good to know the details, I love that kind of information. And such an awesome picture, does anyone else see the resemblance between Grampa and Nate?

Jim - Awesome post.

I second Jen's shout-out to Mike and Matt (who is deploying shortly!) and also add Ryan (who's leaving for his two week training Saturday) and his brother Rory to the mix.

Jimmy - awesome video. Where do you come up with these things? While on the subject, my CD of the pictures does not open on any computer. Is there any chance that you have another? I have the pictures, so guess it is not that big of a deal, but thought I would ask. Thank you for keeping us posted on our family history. And, yes Hannah Banana, there is definitely a resemblence between Grampa and Nate. Jimmy is in there, too!!
