Happy Birthday, Bill

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Billy Boy up in heaven!  Connie is having a Mass celebrated to honor him on his day at 4:30 today!  Just remember to shoot a special prayer for him today.  Miss you, buddy!

Moore Family Event

After the discussion we had Sunday evening of the Moore Family Event I thought for sure there would be postings from the event.  Sadly there is nothing after two weeks so I decided to post some of mine.  I hope some others will add theirs.  It was a great weekend and we had a blast!!  It was so fun to see cousins of ALL ages playing together!  Thank you again Matt for making it happen!  Looking forward to next year!

Family Weekend Fireside Live Karaoke

Hey all!  The Chicago Moores are really looking forward to the big weekend in Ennis and can't wait to see you all there.  Inevitably, there will be some fireside time with a few guitars being strummed.  Wouldn't you like to belt out an off-key version of that song that you're always singing when you're alone in the car, but this time accompanied by one semi-professional and two decidedly amateur musicians?  This is your chance to impress us all with your knowledge of the lyrics and your enthusiasm for music.  So... if you would like us to be prepared to play any particular songs, please let us know by dropping a comment below or sending me an email at abemoore@hotmail.com.

Sam's new adventure!

Sam left yesterday for Baltimore and left Baltimore for Germany this afternoon.  He will be stationed at Ramstead AFB at the hospital in Landstuhl.  He is excited to begin his nursing career in the army and hoping to explore Europe while he is there.

The Weekend of Moore Fun

It is time to make this thing happen.  We talked about making the Moore Family Picnic a bigger event and now the time has come to put the pieces together.  

July 6-9 at the Riverside Motel in Ennis, MT is where its going down. 

I am attaching a suggested room list and a description of the rooms.  The rooms were assigned based on size of family and a guess at who would need the space.  Trading is fine, but it needs to be coordinated with the two parties involved and communicated to the Riverside Motel (406-682-4240).  If you would like rooms 1 or 2, please let me know this week as I need to send this list to the motel and let them know if we are not using any of the rooms so they can open them up.

Anna at the motel is going to help keep track of reservations.  She has been kind enough not to request a credit card to initially hold the block, but did ask that we all call to confirm our reservations with a card by June 1st.

On the Move...

Once again the Somervilles are packing up and heading west...ish. Apparently we really like to move. Shane accepted a job with the state as a Systems Auditor for the Legislative Branch so we are moving to Helena at the end of the month. We're both excited about the career opportunity this provides Shane as well as the fact that we will be a lot closer to both our families (Shane's sister lives in Helena, too). Now we just hope we have some decent moving weather!

Welcome Declan James Wingerter

Declan James was born 2/16/18 at 1014  pm. He is a healthy  9 lb 10.5 oz 21.25 in beautiful baby.  Mom and baby are awesome!  Deanne was induced yesterday.  All will be traveling to Houston Mar. first.  Deanne will have surgery to remove the rest of a sarcoma lump in her arm.  This little family is doing well but please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Aunt Jean

Just filling those out of town on Aunt Jean's services.  We had the Vigil on Wednesday night.  Johnny, Annie, Connie, Mary, Jim, Marc and I represented the Moore gang.  It was a small vigil and I was disappointed that only two people spoke.  Tony (Aunt Jean's youngest) spoke and gave a very nice talk.  Connie and I waved Johnny up there because he always represents the family at these things and he gave a nice off the cuff talk.  We visited with the Poiriers for a bit and then went to the Brewhouse for dinner and to kind of celebrate Marc's birthday.  Annie came in and said the Poiriers were coming, too, so we moved downstairs and had two long tables for everyone.  It was a nice evening.  Thursday when I picked Connie up to go to the funeral it was 45 degrees.  We ran to Costco to get wine and cheese and then to Safeway for crackers and wine.  On the way to Costco one of my co-workers texted me to say they had canceled school for today.  I thought she was kidding since it was 45 degrees out!  But, when Connie and I walked out of Safeway it had already dropped at least 10 degrees.  We went to the funeral and luncheon and it was really nice.  I told the workers to expect about 75 and we thought we were being generous but in fact there were about 85.  They were worried they were going to run out of food but didn't!  From there family gathered at the cemetery (minus Ann, Johnny and Mary) for the burial.  It is the fastest we have heard our priest speak because it was so freaking cold!  Haven't felt like that since Shelby days!!  Marc, Connie and I went to Johnny and Annie's where they had prepared a snack spread for everyone.  They had generously offered their house for the "after" party for people to gather.  For a long time it was just us, then Jim Wingerter came and then Tony Poirier came.   About an hour later Jane and Ron, Robbie and Michelle and Denny Campbell and his wife came.   We had a great visit.  Dinger and Johnny even ran to the store (in Dinger's super warm truck since he left it running when he came in and it was a good hour later when they ran to the store) for more wine.  Wingerters and Connie caravanned back to Great Falls about 6:30 or so and we hung in there until about 8.  Everyone left but not before we seriously discussed a Poirier reunion in the fall.  Just wanted to let you know that Aunt Jean was sent off in real style!!

One Last 50s Birthday

Born in '59 and celebrating his 59th birthday - this grandpa probably just had one of the best years of his life!  Happy birthday to the best dad and grandpa anyone could ask for. 

Hoping the snow in MT and WY doesn't keep you from getting down to Sheridan to see Jolee (and Shannon and Birch) and you get that birthday celebration you deserve.  

Here's to a fantastic birthday to the "baby stealer" (Seriously, you can't hold Jolee for more than 2 minutes before dad is coming back to hold her for the 80th time that day).  You are awesome!  Happy Birthday!  Love ya.

Whoa baby!

Hello my wonderful family!

I hope you all are doing well and surviving winter (except those of you in warm climates; I'll talk to you again in the spring).  Shane and I are keeping busy in Bozeman. Fall sports rolled into winter sports which rolled into spring sports, so the athletic department has been jumping. And Shane accepts so many kids to MSU every day. The school is growing like crazy, which is nice to see. We've also been trying to wrap our minds around this for the past few months...

Shane and I are excited to be expanding this duo into a trio and to be bringing this baby into such a warm and loving family. And they'll have plenty of cousins their own age to play with!

The Big 6-0!

On Thursday, January 18th, 2018, mom turned the big 6-0!  For 60 years she's been the nicest most caring person in the world and we love the hell out of her.  To celebrate the big birthday we took her on a surprise trip to San Diego for New Year's weekend!

We rented a house right on Mission Beach and woke up each morning to coffee and waves - we even had some dolphin siting.  We had an amazing time and got to hang out with the Chicago Moores and their clan in San Diego.  Trips to the Zoo and Safari Park have always been two bucket list items for mom and we were able to hit both of them up.  It was a fantastic trip.

So Happy Birthday to the best ever - your growing family of a husband, son, daughter, son in law, and granddaughter love you like crazy.  Happy Birthday, mom!

Happy Birthday Kelly!

Happy birthday to this beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, just all around wonderful person!!  Kelly is celebrating her 38th year of life and her almost 14th year of being a blessing to this family!!  This is from your ever so thankful husband via his even more thankful parents!!!  We love you Kelly!!

Busy December for the Wingys

2017 has been a crazy year for the Wingy clan; and December was no different.  Sam graduated from MSU on Dec. 16 after being pinned as a nurse on the 15th.  So all of us except Nick and including  Connie, gathered in Billings and Bozeman to celebrate this accomplishment.  Miranda did the pinning honors at the nurses' ceremony.  It was pretty cool since Sam was the last person introduced and his ROTC accomplishments were mentioned as well.  So awesome for Sam!

Saturday morning was graduation in the field house.  Around 800 graduated and about 150 were nursing students.  I didn't get any pics of Sam in cap and gown😢   Later that afternoon he was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the army.  4 cadets received their commission so it was a pretty short ceremony.  We drove back to Billings after that on really crappy roads.  

We spent the remainder of the weekend in Billings.  Miranda hosted all of us at her place.  It was a bit crowded but so fun to all be together.

The next weekend was Christmas!  Nick flew in on Wed. to join Christina and Patricia at our house.  We had everyone but Jake and Dee for Christmas.  So fun to have all the grandkids!  

 Sam is studying for his nursing boards then heads to San Antonio for a few months.  After that he goes wherever the army sends him.  

All of us are doing well and anticipating baby Oregon Wingy in Feb. and baby Butte Wingy in May!  Nick will finish in Alabama in June and they will move back to Helena.

Sibling Christmas Lunch

We have continued the tradition started I don't even know how many years ago!  We gathered in Great Falls on December 9th for the annual Moore sibling Christmas lunch.  We met at The Amigo and had a great lunch.  All six of us were there with Marc, Annie and Jim W joining as the "out-laws".  From there we drove to the cemetery (with a stop at the liquor store to get Baileys for Jimmy).  We hung a wreath between Mom and Dad's graves.  I had brought a half gallon of egg nog and brandy to commemorate  Dad's neighborhood Christmas open house gatherings!  I had a bag with all the necessities and we stood around and told memories for over an hour and finished the egg nog and almost all of the Baileys.  From there we moved on to Connie's house where we visited before going to  . . . . . . wait for it . . . . . . BORRIES!  All but Mary were there since she was having a staff party at her house!  We had so much fun!  God has blest us as a family to have each other during this holiday season.  We miss Mom and Dad but we are so lucky that we have each other!  Merry Christmas to all!

A birthday note ...

It is the birthday of Charlotte Constance Coleman Moore, born November 22, 1900, somewhere in Iowa.  At a young age, she moved with her parents, Charlie and Josie, to Judith Gap, Montana.  She completed local schools, then attended Billings Polytechnical School. 

She was an accomplished musician and taught piano for several years in Harlowton.  I have a recital program from the 1930s; one of her students was Jeanne Poirier.  In 1949, she traveled to Florence, Italy, for advanced piano studies.

Her father was the person who started calling her "Biddy."  Somehow it stuck, at least for our family.  She was a kind and loving grandmother.  She passed away in 1976.

Greece and Ghana Trip

Hello Moores,

Dee and I just got back from a 2 and a half week trip. We were in Greece for a week and then Ghana for a week with a stopover in London for a couple days. We got to walk around Athens for a day and see the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora. Then we went to Santorini which is a small island in the Aegean where we spent the rest of our time. It was perfect timing as the tourist season was just ending and there were no crowds at all. From what we heard it is insane in the summertime. We got lucky with the weather too.

In London we met up with a couple of Dee's cousins and saw a show at the Shakespeare Globe Theater. Good times. the next day we met up with one of our colleagues from residency who lives in Cambridge for Guy Fawkes Day. He was caught trying to blow up Parliament back in the day. There was a good ol' American carnival and fair food, a bon fire and fireworks. The actually used to burn scarecrow-type figures that were supposed to represent Guy, but nowadays it's just palates.

We then made our way to Ghana. The company we work for is called Sanford. They are based of of Sioux Falls, SD. We are actually under their World Clinic arm her in K Falls but their main focus with this is Ghana. They have over twenty clinics there and we were going over to do some training on newborn resuscitation and care with 12 midwives there. The training lasted a very long 3 and a half days but was very fun and rewardng. After that we visited a couple of the outlying clinics. The docs there saw about 60 patients a day! Incredible numbers. The people in Ghana are very welcoming and cheerful. It was an amazing experience and we will likely be going back at some point.

All-in-all a busy, chaotic, and fun-filled trip. We finally made it home Sunday after about 40 hours of travel. It surely is nice to be home.

Love everyone and wish we could make it back for Thanksgiving. Alas, Dee is on call but we'll be thinking of everyone and counting our blessings, including this family, on Turkey Day.
