Family Picnic 2011

First of all a big shout out to Ben for finding the place and Jimmy for putting it all together!
What a FUN gathering.

Thank you to the one who started it all!!!
What is a picnic without beersbie!
Or the ongoing pinochle games and tournament. Congratulations Tommy on being the overall pinochle champ!
The only shade so this is where the cheering section sat!
No water nearby! Make up your own fun. Thanks, Uncle Joey!
It was great that Connie and Bill drove all that way just to eat picnic fare with us!
A view of the "hall" where we hung out/ate/watched Jeanine drink beer at 3:15! Kidding Neener!!
Just wanted everyone to see that she could smile when I put her down!!
The Three Muskateers. They had a great time!
The reason it continues!
Breakfast chef extrodinaire and chief firebuilder!
The musicians who entertained the fire pit crowd until early hours of the morning! Ok, Johnny not as early! It was fantastic music!
Part of the fire pit crew!
I just want everyone to know when I called the Brackett Creek Inn when we got back to Helena, she was VERY appreciative of how clean we left it!! Marc and I and the kids were the last to leave and we were vacuuming our way out. Both vacuums broke so Marc took both apart to try to fix them. He cleaned them but the belts both broke so I wanted to let them know that. Also, I told her about the BBQ grill and the fire out of the handle. She thanked me a couple of times for cleaning so well!! This was a picnic to remember and I am sorry that you cousins who couldn't be there missed it! Just so you know - next year's gathering will be in Billings on July 22nd. Hopefully everyone is planning on being at Shannon and Birch's wedding so you will be there for the picnic. If you are flying in for the wedding, plan an evening flight out! You don't want to miss this one.

Oh, she also asked if we took a group photo. I said no but I would see if anyone has more people included in theirs than I did. If so, they would like the photo and comments on their website. Let me know and if not, maybe I will send a musician shot or one of the firepit crowd ones. Thanks everyone!! What a great memory maker! And thanks to Abe for sharing his Alaska catch!

Thanks for posting all the good pictures, Jan. Also a big shout out to Jim for organizing the whole thing. We enjoyed our picnic fare and seeing everyone. Bill even said it was a good day, but he wasn't impressed with the drive.

MAN! I SO wish I could be there. I am glad that everyone had a great time and I am already looking forward to Moorefest 2012!!! Good job on the pictures and captions Mom.

It was a great time and a fun place to have it. Just a side note: it was a cribbage tournament, not pinochle. It's okay though Mom, you're old. :)

Come on, Joey, Mom only knows two card games, so if it isn't UNO it must be pinochle! :)

We sure are sad that we missed this one. We are already planning the trip for next year's!

Oh geez! I am old!! Sorry guys. I just don't play cribbage so I am entitled to call it the wrong game! But it is Beersbie - right??

Joey beat me to the punch with that comment! Looks like it was a BLAST! I am glad that everyone arrived there and back to their respective places safely. Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2012!

Great pics. Definitely looks like another amazing gathering that the Moores do best. Missed being there but glad to see my contribution (Beersbie) lives on. Hoping I can make it for next year's bonanza.

So sad to have missed this fantastic family event. Thanks for posting pictures and a summary, Jan! Abe was beyond tired when he got back, which is the sign of a good party! Very much looking forward to next year. Love to all!

It was a great gathering. It set the bar pretty high for future Family Picnics. However, next year's fest will tag on Shannon's wedding, so we'll be back to the one-day event, near Billings this time.

As for this one, wow! Ann and I did a head count on the way home -- 38 people. Then I figured immediate family who, unfortunately, couldn't be there -- another 18 souls.

You'd think Jan would know that if it was a pinochle tournament, she would have been in it. And yes, Tom was the cribbage champ. He defeated Maurika twice in the tourney to take it all. But by the end of the tournament, few people were paying much attention. Credit the beer.

Other highlights included beersbee (or frisbeer), the ongoing washers game, playing in the creek, the Funglish game, music around the fire pit, wild turkeys, good food, great company, and a few new faces (Katy, Ashley, Sunil, Kim, and Ceylon).

Thanks to all. And kudos to Jan for organizing the cleaning crew on Sunday.

I am jealous. That's it. Just plain jealous. Happy that ya'll had a great time? Kind of.... but more just jealous that I couldn't be there to join the fray. :)
Love ya'll!!

Just got back from hot Atlanta. Thanks Jan and Abe for posting some pics, anybody else have more to add? It was great seeing everyone as always and missed seeing those that couldn't make it. A big shout out to Ben for finding the place. The search is on for 2013.

Extraordinarily well done, Jim. This was a family picnic weekend for the ages, and hopefully a model for those to come! Thanks for arranging and coordinating everything. Also thanks to Jan and the rest of the crew who worked so hard to clean up at the end.

Looking forward to seeing at least some of you in Montana for Thanksgiving. Is it time for the grilled cheese trophy to be challenged?
