Jim Moore's Service

The combined factions of the Moore and Cosgriffe families, along with the communities of Two Dot, Harlowton, Bozeman, and elsewhere gave Jim a very good send-off today.  I think he would be pleased at the stories, the camaraderie, the memories, and the moments.

We gathered at Resurrection University for the full-blown Catholic funeral mass, then repaired to the parish hall for visits and victuals.  Perry Moore (IV) delivered a wonderful tribute to his dad, and Jim's former law partner and his publisher chimed in with laudatory recollections.

After overstaying our welcome at the parish hall, a number of folks met up at a local brewery for more visits and story-swapping.  All of these photos reflect that "after event," most of them taken by Ann.

I hope others will share their memories and photos; I know Susan had her camera there, and she has proven to be a sharp shutterbug.

Jim – we love you and we miss you.

A Big Loss

I was saddened to learn that Perry James "Jim" Moore III passed away today of multiple medical issues.  He accomplished many things in his life – Navy service, skilled rancher, astute lawyer, state senator, and published author.  But best of all, he and Kay raised a fine family.  And he was best man at our parents' wedding.

I speak for all the John Moore family when I say we will miss him greatly.

Welcome Jolee Adelaide Haraden!

Shannon and Birch are excited to announce the birth of Jolee Adelaide Haraden!  Jolee was born this morning, April 7th, in Sheridan, Wyoming, at 10:28 AM.  She weighs in at 7 pounds and 9 ounces. Shannon (and Birch, I'm assuming) and baby are doing amazingly well!

Mom and Dad are down in Sheridan today and I know they are over the moon ecstatic right now with the birth of their first grandchild.  I know I'm insanely excited about being a first time uncle!  She even shares her state with me - pretty cool.  Love her already.

Here are a couple pics of the new baby, new mom, and new grandparents.

This is a picture of Connie blowing out her candles last weekend when Mary, John, Tom, and I gathered to celebrate.  Always fun to get together with family.  Happy belated birthday Connie!

Landmark birthday!

It's Connie's birthday today, and it's a landmark, a milestone, a red-letter day!  We won't tell you how old she is, but if you look up the birth records in Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana, for March 31, 1947, you might be able to do the math.

We hope you've been having a great day, Connie.  It was great to get together last Friday for an early celebration.  And we look forward to learning when you'll be taking that trip to Denver.

Much love from all your sibs, in-laws, and extended family.

Utah tribe

We had a nice visit (albeit quick) with the Philpot clan in Utah this weekend.  It was quite enjoyable, including a Thai dinner, a couple basketball games, and a pirate escape adventure.  As an added bonus, Jimmy flew over from Boise for Saturday brunch, a visit, and one of the basketball games.

Doesn't get much better than that.  And yes, those kids' heights are accurately portrayed.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

I know the blog has been quiet on the birthday front - but might as well throw this one up there.

Happy Birthday to my old man who is one of the biggest Moore Family blog fans out there.  Hope you have a fantastic day and that you get to drink a nice wine with Mom, Shannon, and Birch (wait... not Shannon) tonight to celebrate.  Love you!

Probably the best day of his past year (Sorry Shannon and Birch) - Cats victorious in Missoula!

Wedding Details

Hello all!!! I wanted to give it a couple of days following Nick and Christina's wonderful announcement before I put up a post! I am excited to share my state with Patricia!

So I know some of you have been reaching out to Jan about details on this summer's festivities, so I figured I would just post some details on here for initial planning purposes, but then hopefully you all will keep your eyes on the mail for something with some more details.

Ali and I are planning our wedding for 4-6 August. The 5th is the Saturday, which would be the day of the actual ceremony, and the 4th would just be a day of some fun!!! We are having it at the Gallatin River Hideaway, which is this really cool place near Bozeman. There are some spots on site for RVs and campers, so that is something to keep in mind. If you think that is how you will stay, please just let me know so that I can make sure I reserve enough spots!  Otherwise, we will have some hotel rooms blocked off for the weekend.

We are really excited to have this special celebration in Montana surrounded by family and friends. Really what we are looking forward to is spending quality time with you all, and just enjoying being surrounded by the beautiful scenery that makes up Montana's landscape. We are going to try to get invites out in the next month. Hopefully this is enough info, but if you have more questions, feel free to post a comment and I will do my best to answer!

Love to all and look forward to seeing most of you this summer! And Cooper is looking forward to it too!!!

Love always,
Jen

News?

Mighty quiet on this blog lately.  I guess everybody's all "facebooky" these days.  A lot has happened since the Molly post ...
Mikayla turned 17
Hannah turned, well, another year
Piper turned 9
Jeanine completed another orbit of the sun
Kaitlyn turned 10

Next up on the birthday calendar: Mary (Jan 29), Rileigh (Jan 31) and Tom (Feb 3).

Yesterday, Maurika, Truman & Piper joined Ann and me for the Montana version of the Women's March; it drew 10,000 people to Helena on a cold day.  Here's a pic of Ann and me with Piper near the Capitol.

Now ... let's hear some news from other family members!

Sayonara Windy City!

After 4 1/2 years, Shane and I are saying goodbye to Chicago! We have certainly enjoyed Chicago and are so glad we moved here, but we've definitely had our challenges. We are moving this weekend back to MONTANA and we are so excited to be back home and closer to family. We aren't 100% sure where we will end up yet (either Bozeman or Helena), but we are just glad to be around family and friends again.

We hope you all have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We hope to see you soon!!

Love,
Molly (& Shane)

The Cemetery Gang

Mary's post was great.  I'll add a few photos. Here's the gang at the graves – except for Ann (someone had to take the photo).  Below that, you'll see the memorial markers in place.  It was a touching event with great stories and memories.  Thanks to Jan and Marc for bring the Bailey's, the Jameson's, and the little red Solo cups.  Nice touch.

Wonderful weekend~

The senior Moores all gathered this past weekend to commemorate Dad's birthday and the anniversary of Mom's funeral.  We had a great lunch, wrote our checks to Tom's charity (the backpack program for Billings schools), visited the cemetery and saw the headstones, and shared a terrific dinner prepared by Jim W.  Sunday Mass was for Dad so some of us made it to church as well.
This is such an amazing family and I thank God for all of you.  I hear so many times, especially since I work at the church, these families that come in for funeral planning and they can't even be civil to each other.  We are very lucky to have been raised by these amazing people who instilled in us the joy of family.
It has been a tough few weeks for me.  I miss Mom every day.  This gathering came at a wonderful time for me.  I love you all!
And Connie, this is the photo I posted on facebook.  Mom was truly a beautiful person~

Okay, kids – It's time to do a bit of planning.  For the senior siblings, I believe it now stands that only Connie, Tom, and Jimmy may nominate a charity for our joint contribution this year.

The past three years, the senior siblings have also made a joint contribution on behalf of Mom.  Do we wish to continue that?

All the cousins have pooled and selected a charity over the past three years.  Yer on yer own to decide whether to continue that and how to do it.  Best get working on it.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving, with all the continued blessings we enjoy.

Aunt Jean's 90th Birthday

Johnny, Annie, Marc and I were lucky enough to be able to go out to Montana City Grill on Sunday to celebrate Aunt Jean's 90th birthday with her and Jane, Rob, and family.  We had a great visit with Aunt Jean who is doing amazingly well.  She and I were talking and there were pitchers of beer all over the table and I asked if she wanted a glass and in her sweet way she said "I would like a drink but no one has asked me!"  Well, birthday girl got a big glass of wine so she was a happy camper.  What a sweetheart!

Even more Moores?

Happy Saturday to you all from the Haradens in the great state of WY!  The state with the lowest population and quite possibly the smallest impact in our upcoming election.  We hope this post finds you all well.  We are enjoying a lovely fall here in Sheridan and hope all of you are too!

It has been awhile since we have updated you on our happenings, but we do have some very exciting news to share.  We will also be welcoming a new member into our family come April!  We are super excited, as are Mom, Dad and Nate.  I am finally starting to feel human again now that the first trimester is behind me.  My arthritis hasn't been quite as cooperative as we had hoped, but hopefully I will have some more medication options the further along I get.  We don't have a ton of other news to report.  We have settled into this school year nicely and enjoyed lots of fall football!  We'll leave you with some pictures from our summer adventures!
