Update

Ok, so I have heard from almost everyone regarding the BBQ and golf outing.  Here is a list of the confirmed for the BBQ and what people have said they will bring.  If you see something missing on here, feel free to write in the comments area what you will be bringing.

·
Matt, Kelly, & Family – side dish, dessert, meats (brats, hot dogs, etc)
·             Abe & Diz
·             John & Ann
·             Mike
·             Mom & Dad – burgers, potato salad
·             Jen – beverages (pop, water, alcohol)
·             Molly & Shane – chips, veggies, dip
·             Meghan & kids
·             Jake
·             Geigers
·             Rika, Mark, & Family
·             Briana, Peter, and Sabina

As for the golf tournament, I think we are going to be playing at the Par 3 golf course.  There is a   Senior High alumni thing going on that starts at 9:30, so we can get on before then at 8:45.  The plan is   to draw names for the twosomes, then pair up and play as foursomes.  Tom suggested we create an A and B pool for those who golf a lot, or at least enough, and those who don't really golf much.  Then we pair an A with a B so the teams are fair.  I thought this was a good idea so we can do that on Friday at the BBQ.  The greens fees are $20 for 18 holes, and $15 for a cart.  We might not have access to any carts because of the Senior event, but we really shouldn't need them anyway.  What I was thinking is each person could pay $25, and the extra $5 would be put into the pot for the winning team and prizes for longest putts and closest to the pin.  If there's anything I am missing, let me know.  Otherwise it should be a great time.  Following is the list of confirmed I have for the mini-tourney:
·             Matt
·             Abe
·             Mike
·             Joey
·             Shane
·             Jim W.
·             Jake
·            Nick
·            Ben
·            Nate
·            Sam (walking)
       Burt & Greg Geiger (possibly)

Family picnic on Sunday

As I said before the family picnic will be Sunday at Rose park. I have invited the Haradens, Reardons and Wingerters along with Uncle John and Jule to the picnic also, so there may be a big bunch. I reiterate that my generation is responsible for salads and side dishes and the next generation is responsible for deserts and snacks. Everyone will bring their own drinks. I will take up a collection to help pay for the pavillion when we are there. I was thinking fried chicked but it has also been suggested that we have sub sandwiches. Let me know what you prefer--no speak up, no vote!!!!!

I hope this finds everyone eagerly anticipating the weekend to come in a couple of weeks.  I am excited to see everyone and wanted to bring you all up to speed on a couple of things.  First, on Friday, July 20th, Shannon and Birch will be having their rehearsal dinner.  Because most of the family will be in town on Friday, and not everyone will be attending the rehearsal, I thought it would be fun to have a BBQ at Nate's and my house.  Everyone is invited.  We will have a new deck built, some yard games to be played, a park with a pool half a block away, and lots of food and beverages.  I don't know why you wouldn't want to come!  So if you could post on the blog something that you could bring, I could figure out what I need to round up on my end.

Second, I thought it would be really fun on Saturday morning to play some golf.  Anyone is invited to play, and I was thinking of doing either nine holes at the regulation golf course, or 18 holes at the par 3.  I figure both would take about the same amount of time.  My idea was to do a 2-person scramble, so it won't take us forever.  We could randomly draw names from a hat to pair up, then play as foursomes once we get to the course.  I also thought it would be fun to include some prizes for closest to the pin, long drive (if we play at the regulation course), and longest putt.  So this post is also to see who may be interested in participating in something like that.  I would need to know fairly soon as I would have to call the public course to see if they have anything going on that day and set up some tee times, or talk to the pro shop at the par 3 to do the same thing.  Aunts and uncles who read this, if you could pass it on to the Facebookers who rarely come on here anymore, I would greatly appreciate it.

I hope everyone has been having a great summer and surviving this heat.  Moorefest 2012 is shaping up to be epic, so bring your party pants and plenty of energy!  See you all soon.

Last Thursday, June 21, Mary and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary.  Yup, you are right - we were at a baseball game, and not one of our own - a Voyagers game.  Amazing how fast 32 years can fly by.  I would not change one minute of one day.  Thank you to all you who have made our lives so special, particularly our children.  Miranda, Ben, Jake, Nick, Sam, and Maddie - you our our most precious gifts, thank you for the past 32 years.  Mary - starting from two 19 year olds who barely knew each other to 50 somethings who can still act like kids, thank you for putting up with me and for loving me.  I am so lucky and so blessed!!!!   Jim

I have looked and looked and cannot find a picture of the two of you together in my online pictures! That is sad and we need to remedy that! Happy anniversary to two people that are very special and so right for each other! Hope you had a GREAT dinner together and that your August trip to Iceland is everything you want! Love you guys!

Happy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy 31st birthday (for the 2nd time) to the most AMAZING Mom! I hope you enjoy your day and maybe toss back a little bit o' Baileys to help cap off the celebration. You truly are an amazing woman and a role model for so many people. I sure love you and wish I could be there to help you celebrate. I hope this is a night off for you from Game On and you're not going to make everyone suffer through a chicken and quinoa meal. :) LOVE YOU!

Wedding Hotel Room Reminder!!!

Hello familia, I'm doing my sister a solid and reminding all of you that hotel rooms at the Crown Plaza are still open for the "Moore-Haraden Wedding" until this Thursday, June 21st. The Crown has been off their game and have told people there are no rooms left but that is false. If you have ANY issues, call Shannon, my dad, or me and let us know.

One month left til the big day. We are excited to have you all in the Magic City soon! Contrary to John's past claims, it's a fun town!

Love you all and see ya soon!

Today, Diz and I had our 20 week ultrasound. This was the big one - where we found out if it was a mascio or femina. We told the ultrasound tech not to tell us, but instead to write down the sex and put it in a sealed envelope. We then took the envelope to a baby store, picked out a boy and a girl outfit, and asked the lady behind the counter to wrap up one or the other, depending on what was in the envelope. Diz and I then went out to a wonderful birthday dinner, and after dessert, we opened up the box to learn this great news .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. The family picnic is coming

Bill and I are in charge of the family picnic this year. Miranda has gratiously agreed to help me with this.
Since everyone is going to be there, it is going to be the Sunday after Shannon and Birch's wedding.
It is at Rose park which is less than a block from Nate's house. We have reserved the shelter there from 3:00-10:00. If no one has reserved the earlier time we can use it before 3:00. There are several things to do at the park: A swimming pool with slides, a playground, baseball fields and horseshoe pits. Of course everyone will bring a frisbee and Tom will bring his ringers. The city wants to charge us $25.00 more to have beer there. So I'm asking, do we want to do that or do you want to go to Nate's to drink beer. Just let me know your opinion.
Bill and I will furnish fried chicked. The first generation (mom/grandma) gets off scot free. I'd like the second generation to bring salads or side dishes. I'd like the third generation to bring desserts and snacks. Everyone will bring what they want to drink.
Should be a fun time, so get ready to boogie!!!!!!!
