Kesiah turns 6!

So the Philpots are rounding out the busy first quarter of birthdays with Kesiah's sixth!! Kesiah is currently in coach pitch softball which is pretty fun as it is her first year. She is also nearing the completion of her dance class and Kindergarten! Kesiah has been a bundle of fun since the day she was born. She has always had a natural determination, which as a parent can be kind of frustrating when her will is pitted against yours, but to see it at work in the world is pretty phenomenal. When she first found out they had to write their numbers from one to one hundred to get into the "100 Club" in Kindergarten this year, she came home and started practicing so that the first time she tried at school, she made it! It's a blessing to get to share in her life.

First we have her "cousin" birthday party she shared with her Philpot cousin Lila. There are fourteen kids under the age of 11 on Jerry's side (most living in Utah) so cousin parties abound! She got called up during the magic show and although it is a poor picture, when he removed the board she was levatating! Pretty cool.


Then ironically, Opa J. (Or Grampa John) sent her a magic trick set for her birthday which the whole family has been loving - the tricks are great. Here is her masterpiece performance with the jewel-in-the-box!



Here she is with her five little friends for her "Friend" birthday party. She is the one in orange. (I know, don't get me started, we go overboard for birthdays!) It had a bear theme and I am posting the bear cake I made because I mean, seriously, that is pretty good right?





Her birthday gift was a bike her size and she is just cruisin' now that she has wheels!

Happy Day, Dinger!

Just want to give a shout out to Jim W. on his birthday. I know that he celebrated in Billings with his family so it was a special day. He also got to share his day with Isaac as he was baptized today! Congratulations to Isaac, too. I am sorry that I don't have a picture of you, Jim, but know that our thoughts are with you on this day! Special memory of Jim - the Moore family reunion and Jim is the auctioneer. Meg wanted him to stop so that she could call Ryan to see if she could spend over $50 for something. He carried on about "there is no stopping an auction". He was his usual fun self. Love ya, Jim!

The Icebreaker Breaks!

Here we are at the beginning of the Icebreaker Race today in Great Falls. If you look closely in the front section of the crowd, you might find Jim. He ran a very nice 22-minute 3-mile. The rest of us are way in the back, but you can see us -- Connie, Jan, Marc, Cheryl Bauer, Ann and I. I bowed out after half a mile because my back was hurting, but the rest soldiered on. All in all, we had a good time and a nice visit.

You can see the sunny weather, but it was temporary. The day carried rain, snow, sleet, and hail at various times -- none of them, fortunately, during the 3-mile race.



If you're still looking for us in the back of the crowd, give it up. I was kidding.

Happy Birthday Johnny!!

So I am posting a picture of John with all his siblings because it's a great picture and because he never seems to like all the attention on himself. One of my favorite memories of John (as sharing something about family members on their birthdays is a new trend I am trying to set)is that on my sixteenth birthday he told me that the sky was the limit. My request was to go sleigh riding. So up into the Montana Mountains we went to this tucked away fanatastic cabin where I indeed got a honest to goodness old fashioned horse pulled sleigh ride. It was awesome. I think of John and I think of thick black sharpie markers and the political cartoons he would draw on his old chipped desk in Boulder. The list could go on but I am leaving it to ya'll to continue it.

The Docs Visit The Chi

Hey, this picture is a couple weeks old now, but thought I'd put up a quick post showing Jake and Mary Beth's visit to Chicago. We had an awesome time with them. We had nice dinners, a nice walk around Chicago, and Jake and I even invented the cocktail of the year for our ladies, which they enjoyed immensely. Come back soon, guys.

Baptismal Gown?

Hello Fellow Family Members:

I have a quick favor to all the parents out there. Mom and Dad went through their storage shed this past weekend and were looking for the baptismal gown that Mike was baptized in (and apparently none of the rest of us because we were too old), but she could not find it. She thought that maybe she lent it to someone else to use at a baptism.

Spring Break Utah!

Just thought I'd post some pictures of our recent doings.
First we have our Spring Break Scoliosis Snowman. Yes, after Carter removed his life-affirming wedge, the poor guy toppled to his doom. And we thought it was funny to say he had scoliosis because Mikayla was recently diagnosed with scoliosis. (Does that make me a bad mom? Mikayla is the one that actually came up with it.) We'll see in six months how severe hers is or if it is progressing but right now we are just hoping for the best.
We also spent a night at a fancy hotel in Downtown Salt Lake for our Spring Break outing. Had a blast swimming and cruising the local metropolis.
Finally, Carter recently had a birthday - March 20th to be exact. And as this is the face he now pulls in all his pictures, I thought I would post his "fightin" face with his cousin, Kelton. And finally we have a picture of Kaitlyn and Kesiah just because. Hope everyone is well. Always love seeing new posts.

Yay! So even though I didn't call to send along birthday wishes until 10:00 tonight, I am redeeming myself by getting the birthday blog post!
So happy birthday to Rika who is a whole lot of wonderful in a whole lot of ways. Brilliant, Fun, an Amazing Mom, a Splendid sister - I am lucky to know such a fabulous person. I hope your day was a reflection of all that you are. :)
Little known fact about Rika - she and I had the exact same dream at the exact same time once. True. Not April Foolin ya! So on top of everything else, she is partially psychic. I think that we should get all interesting facts we have about Rika listed her as a birthday tribute! Love u Rika!

Family Picnic

Sorry to post on top of Connie's Birthday post (Happy Birthday again, Connie!) but we're trying to get summer plans together and would like to attend the family picnic if possible so we're hoping we can get a date figured out. Any plan?

For what it's worth, I'm in Alaska August 7-13, so best for us would probably be August 14th. But we'll try to make it whatever the date is!

Who's going to be 55?

Congratulations Schulte family!

We would like to introduce the family to the newest member - Charlotte (Charlie) AnnMarie Schulte born on Monday, March 15th at 10:25 p.m. weighing in at 7lbs. 10.9 oz and 19 1/2" long. She has lots of dark hair and is gorgeous. Mama and baby are doing great. Meg got to the hospital at 9:30 and 55 minutes later there was a baby! It was magical to watch!

Greetings from Great Falls

Hello- so i'll go ahead and follow suit with a little update from my life. I think I will give you updates in reverse cronological order so anyone who already knows the "old news" of my life can just stop reading at anytime. So for those of you curious or bored enough to continue reading, I will carry on: So I have been looking into the teaching business of late, flirting with a masters program at UGF starting this summer. It's the same program that Meghan graduated from and is currently volunteering for. Looking forward to it, should be enlightening and applicable for future career opportunities! I am working full-time as a Census Bureau update/leave progress crew leader for the next few weeks. I have been incredibly busy sending people out to nowhere, Montana to "update" our address lists and "leave" the same questionnaires that each of you will be filling out and mailing back shortly, if you have not already done so. It has been challenging and great for building experience. Yippee grown up stuff! I start my last undergraduate class this January- a 6 credit religious studies online independent study class through the U. So far it has been really interesting, but I confess I have fallen a bit behind as of late. I'll catch up when those kids go off for spring break! Right before Christmas, I bid farewell to Missoula and moved back in with the parents here in Great Falls. It has been pretty awesome so far as most of my old high school friends have made their ways back to Great Falls also, which has the makings of one of the best slow pitch softball teams Great Falls has ever seen!

I think that pretty much sums it up for now... hope all has been well in your respective corners of the globe. I hope to see most of you soon, say this summer or shortly thereafter. I think there is quite a bit going on as the weather heats up, 30th birthdays and 30th wedding anniversaries (i wonder if the two are related...) so there will be no shortage of funage if you find yourselves in Montana! Saludos Desde Texas

Thought I'd drop a line from Southern Texas. Life's good down here. Working hard and having some fun on the side. I'm really enjoying San Antonio and all the stuff there is to do here. The Mexican food is great and the country music is better. We went to a Texas Country show at Gruene (pronounce green) Hall last night in Gruene, Texas which is America's Oldest Dance Hall. It was a great time.

Also, while we are talking about states, I made my yearly pilgramige to my state of Missouri. How many of you can say they do that? Ben and I made the trek from Texas and met some friends and, of course, Jacob in St. Louis for Mardi Gras festivities. It was a great time. Maybe too good of a time. Well, so good of a time that I gave up alcohol for Lent. While us Moores escaped without injury, Ben's high school buddy Bo had a fall that sent him to the ER for 5 hours while Jake, Ben and I waited in the waiting room. To pass the time we pretended we were the cast of Scrubs.

Michigan!

Hey gang! Well, I am currently in North Platte, NE in my second week back on tour. I'm surprised how easily and quickly things came back to me (the show, directing the kids, casting, etc.). There is still a long road ahead, and a lot of towns, before May when I'm done, but that gives me some time to figure out my next move. I realized there hasn't been much sharing of interesting facts about our states. I figured I would share my findings. I am Michigan and I don't know if any of you watched the ice dancing portion of the Olympics (I watched part of the first night and thought it was totally lame, but then I was stuck in a motel room in South Sioux City, NE with nothing better to do and it turned out to be pretty neat) but the silver medalists--Meryl Davis and Charlie White--attend school at the University of Michigan and train in Michigan alongside gold medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. So I have gold AND silver medalists from my state. I think that makes me pretty high up there. Too bad Davis and White attend U of Michigan. Anyhoo, I'm sure like 99.9% of you probably don't care about that little tidbit, but I just thought I would throw it out there since I don't really have anything interesting going on in my life except waiting to be a new aunt! Anyone else have any interesting facts? I hope to see you all this summer!! Much love!

Paint Job at Gramma's Old House!

I just wanted to share with those of you who may not get to see Gramma's house again the paint job that was done on it. It turned out beautifully! The picture of the door and wall is where the mail slot used to be with the insulation stuffed in it. He did a great job of patching it. If you look closely you may see the white light plates that Tommy went around and put up. I did not get out to the garage to take pictures, but he also put up sheet rock to cover the holes and the spray paint. It looks pretty cool! Now hopefully someone will want to buy it. Gramma said the rugs turned out great. We hope to do an open house this weekend! Keep your fingers crossed that it sells quickly!

Schulte Update

Well, since Uncle John was so adamant with his "ad" to get us posting on the blog, I figured I'd give a little update of what us Schultes have been up to while Ty was busy reading his "Cars" books in his "Cars" tent (can you say obsession?).

Anyway - the baby is due in about 2 weeks and the midwife says he/she will probably be on time or a little late. We are definitely ready for him/her to come although I don't think Tyson is quite prepared for how his world will be disrupted! He doesn't quite like all the baby things that are appearing.

Our puppy will probably adjust a little better. She is growing like a tumbleweed and her and Ty are getting along great. Both are devious little devils, though!

We are really quite the homebodies - no big trips, no big plans, no big anything except this baby! Guess we'll have to post again when he/she decides to introduce themselves to us all! Meanwhile - enjoy the couple pics of the shenanigans at the Schulte household!
