38 Years Later...

Dearest Mother and Father, Happy 38th Anniversary. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating your 25th! I still remember the park and the renewal of the vows. You two are simply amazing. I can't even begin to describe all the wonderful things you have done for this family. You are so generous and loving, and not only to your children and grandchildren, but to your nieces and nephews and your brothers and sisters. I know that every single person who reads this blog applauds your character. Everyone you interact with goes away feeling better about themselves (unless it's in court). To put it bluntly - you 2 are freaking awesome!! I love you very much and I hope you find a fun way to celebrate. Oh, and keep that playful nature alive. I love it. All my love, Molly

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABE!

I know other people probably wanted to post this, but I decided to leap at the chance. I cannot tell you how much Shane and I have enjoyed Abe and Des' hospitality this past year. I've always wanted to hang out with Abe, even when I was a little girl, and now that I finally get the chance to, I can't even explain how happy I am! And it is so adorable watching him interact with John. He is such a great Dad! The photo is from a Cubs game that Abe took Shane and I to. He was explaining how the game works to little John. Abe, happy birthday. Thank you for letting me celebrate it with you! Love you!!

Football results

Hello wonderful family!!! I hope that this finds everyone doing well. I know the summer months are upon us, which means that we all become busy with different adventures. For me, that is gearing up to leave the place that I have called home for the past 2 and 1/2 years and setting up shop in a new location. While I am sure I will be stressed about the upcoming move, and saddened by the thought of leaving, I know that where I am going to next holds completely different and exciting challenges and adventures just awaiting to be had! As all of you know, for the past few months I have participated in the Women's Tackle Football League. It was definitely an experience, in many different ways. I have to say, I never thought I would have so much fun playing the sport. I think all the years of backyard football definitely paid off.  While I was originally set to be an offensive player, I ended up playing wherever they needed me, but mainly as safety. Our team went 6-1 on the regular season and steam rolled through our first two opponents of the playoffs to make it to the championship game.  Unfortunately, the game did not end up as I would have liked.  The score was 47-0. Definitely not indicative of the effort that was put up or the fight that happened within that field, but disappointing for sure.  However, it was an experience and one that I am so glad that I was able to be a part of. I have included a few pictures of the season, there are definitely more and hopefully I will be able to find a way to get some out there, but this will just give you a taste of what I was able to experience. It would have been awesome to have family at the games, but I know that all of you were cheering me on from the states, which is even better! :)

I cannot wait for August to see all of you. I miss you all dearly and I am excited to move back within the 50 states for the next few years.

Love always,
Jen

Our singer -Kaitlyn Philpot

So Kaitlyn was in a little singing group this year and had a cute recital on Saturday. She is the last kid on the left, kind of behind the microphone - curly hair, great moves, cute smile. :) Wish we could all live closer for such festivities but thought we would include ya'll from afar.

Happy Birthday Jake!

Yep!  Jake is 28 years old today.  It is hard to believe that the chunk of a baby is already 28.  When he decided to make his entry into the world, Jim had been playing softball all day in a tournament.  I started contractions and Jim was like...No Way!  There was no stopping the 9 pound Jake!  The nurses called him a bowling ball.  Maybe that is why he loves bowling so much!
Have a terrific day today Jake!  We love you tons~

Brother reunion

Hi y'all from Central Texas.

This past weekend Ben, Nick and Sam were able to come down to Austin to enjoy some time together before Nick's big deployment.  Nick has been in Fort Hood for the past month or so.  He got a few days leave before they are deployed this coming weekend.  His buddy drove him here to Austin on Fri. we went to a birthday party for one of my co-workers.  The theme was "nerd" so Nick just wore his regular clothes and the rest of us dressed up.  See pictures below.

Sam and Ben joined us Saturday night.  We had a heated game of bowling followed soon after with some delicious grub from Whataburger. Sunday morning we grabbed some coffee and hung at the house.  That afternoon Deanne joined us for a BBQ adventure to Lockhart which is a world renowned destination for smoked meats.  Naturally we ordered the "extra-large family meal." Touted as one of the biggest feasts in Texas we gladly accepted the challenge. Needless to say we all ate til we thought we'd burst then packed up the copious amount of leftovers.  We followed the gorging with another competition at Peter Pan mini-golf. Ben has a picture of us there and can post it.  After mini-golf we joined a group of friends for some sand volleyball.  We finished the day with some leftovers and games at my apartment.

I skipped work Monday and we grabbed breakfast tacos and an excellent placed here called Juan in a Million.  The owner typically greets customers with his award winning handshake. After breakfast we thought Wiffle ball would be fun and preceded to drive for hours around Austin looking for an official bat.  we finally found one and had a great afternoon reliving childhood summers.  Ben and Sam flew out Monday night.  Nick, Dee and I watched a movie Monday night.

Back to work Tuesday for me.  Nick got to take in the Austin zoo, which is really more of an animal sanctuary. We had dinner at a good place on Lake Travis and actually went to bed fairly early.

Nick drove back to base earlier this morning.  Overall it was an awesome weekend and I was so glad I got to spend time with my brothers.  I am so proud of Nick and was especially happy to get to see him.  It will be hard for all of us to have him away but he is serving his country which is one of the most admirable things one can do.

I am now trying to recover (both bodily and emotionally) from the weekend.

I love this great family and can't wait to see you...soon hopefully.

Jake

Happy Mothers Day!

I often think that one day a year is wholly inadequate for recognizing our mothers. They should get a whole season. At least Mothers Day takes place in the spring, which is the season I believe they deserve. Anyway, here's a big shout-out to my Mom, to Ann's Mom, and to the mothers of our grandchildren. Love them all. Have a great day ... er, season.

Happy Birthday, Joey

Happy birthday to our special son who is 32 today!  Your dry, dry sense of humor never ceases to amaze me!!  You are such a great guy and we are so proud of all that you do!  Blessings on the changes that are going to occur in your life come August!  You have a terrific soulmate!!  Love you!  Dad and Mom

Dad's Airplane

After all these years I was finally able to see dads airplane fly at an airshow in Chino, CA.  There were five P-38's at the show out of seven in the world.  They made 10,000 from 1941 to 1945 at the Lockheed factory northwest of Chino in Burbank, CA.  The P38 was quite the airplane and it took a skillful pilot to master.  All five did fly at once and it was an awesome site.

Cousin Cog's July Service

Kathleen asked me to post this on our family blog.  For anyone who is planning on going to Cousin Cog's service it is Saturday, July 6th.  Here is the rest of the information:

So glad some of you will be able to come. I think we've almost settled on 11:30 for gravesite and then lunch and a couple of tributes at the new Two Dot Community Center/Fire Hall, followed by cake at the ranch. If you plan to stay the night, you should call soon for a room in Harlo or Martinsdale/White Sulphur. We all may head to the Two Dot Bar Sat night, and you wouldn't want to miss that!

Hope to see lots of our family there!

Kesiah's birthday - a little late

Seems like I just posted her birthday on here, the years are flying fast!! So Kesiah is now 9 - happily nearing the end of 3rd grade. She is distinguished by her height, she is taller than most fifth graders. She has been using that long arm reach to play a mean first baseman this year in softball and is tied with one other girl for the best batting average on the team! She is a witty tyke, still fun and playful. And she sings- along with the rest of her siblings - pretty much all the time. Love her!!

Happy (Late!) birthday, Jim!

Yep, Jim had a birthday.  Now he is as old as me!  'Twas a busy weekend, but we managed a few celebrations for Jim.  He actually cooked dinner on his real birthday and it was soooo good!  Friday we went out for a (game on legal) meal.  Saturday was the celebration of Uncle Buck's life with a ton of family around...what better way to celebrate a birthday?  Then Sunday we had a birthday dinner with Miranda, Ben and the Falls Wingerters.  All in all, Jim had an eventful birthday.
Love you dude!!  Hope you had a great weekend!

Happy BIG "60", Johnny!

Well, we had a big celebration for Johnny at the Brewhouse yesterday!  Gramma, Jimmy, Connie and Bill, Mary, Jim and Maddie, Johnny and Annie, and Marc and I all helped usher in  his 6th decade!!  Some of the pictures are blurry as he wouldn't quit moving!!  This first face shows how he feels about wearing a pin, even worse when it lights up!!  The second is what a child he still is - playing with his balloons!!  The third is his sippy cup wine glass!  Now he won't drool when he drinks!  (Who would ever think of such a gift!!).  The next one is his delicious champagne cake from Hemples Bakery in Great Falls compliments of Connie (in the background).  The next he managed to blow out the candles that said "The Big 60th Oh No!  It was a fun afternoon with lots of kidding, talking, reminiscing!!  Hope your day is as special as you are, Johnny!  You are the gentlest soul I have ever met!!  Love you!

Posted on the Perry Moore blog ...

Friday, April 12, 2013 Buck had severe stroke today Charles called tonight to ask me to let the Moore tribe know that his dad had a severe stroke today. The whole right side of his body and speech were affected. However, Buck was given a med ("something like Coumadin") in the first three hours after the stroke, which can possibly reverse some of the damage. Tonight Buck was able to speak a little. He's stable now and will have a CAT Scan tomorrow. Buck is in Osborne Healthcare in Scottsdale, Room 277, Intensive Care. Debbie, who lives in LA, and Charles are with him. Kathleen

Maddie' s first prom!

Just a couple photos of Madison's first prom!  Jim and I were lucky enough to be asked to chaperone so we got to watch all the festivities.  After the prom we had a few of the freshman class over for breakfast.  T'was a fun evening for sure!

Happy Birthday Emma!!

Emma Joy is 6 today!  How can that be?  This sweet girl has grown in to a caring, smart, funny, and beautiful little lady that we adore.  She had a friend birthday Friday at a cool hang-out place for kids called Kids Clubhouse and almost all of her friends from her class came (18 of the 23!)  It was pretty crazy!  Today we're having a family birthday and I think Uncle Tom, Aunt Jeanine and Uncle Ben will be there, plus lots of "dark siders".  We are so lucky to be close to family.  Happy birthday sweetheart!  We love you!

Happy 40th, Maurika!

Maurika Jeanne turns 40 today. No, really ... this is NOT an April Fool's gag. It's rather amazing that (1) the first grandchild has now hit 40, and (2) it happened so quickly, since I myself just turned 40. We're really happy for her, and we're looking forward to the celebration in Missoula on Thursday.

Happy Easter Birthday, CJ!

Happy birthday, Connie!  How long has it been since you had your birthday on Easter?  Hope you enjoy this gorgeous day and the beginning of your 67th year of life!!  I do have to get more photos of you!  You are a role model for all of us, missy!!  Love you!

Updates!!!!

Well, I guess it would only really be "update" since there is only one of me. But that is besides the point. I know it has been a while since I have posted on the blog, so I just thought that I would stop in to say hi :) I hope this finds everyone doing well. I know that we have various family members scattered throughout the US and the world, and so just know that I am keeping all of you in my prayers as we face our separate challenges! I am also really excited for August when I will hopefully get to see most of you!!! I have been fortunate enough to be on Guam for over 2 years now (wow, time sure does fly!) and I am getting ready to move on to another challenge. At the end of June I will be moving to Mayport, FL to take up defense work for about 3 years. I am excited about the change, but it will definitely be bittersweet. I have had such an amazing time on this island, and I would not talk down about it at all!! This is definitely the Navy's best kept secret in terms of duty stations! I only wish I could stay longer. I have seen and done some amazing things, from diving to hiking to sporting events.  Crazy that I should mention sporting events......one of those activities that I am currently involved in is tackle football. Yes, tackle football. Guam has a women's tackle football league (fully equipped with commissioner and everything) and we have started up the season. I play for the Island Stunnerz. I am having a blast!!! I never knew that hitting someone would feel so good :)  Anyway, I have included a photograph from our first game (which we lost) and a video from You Tube. The video is kind of long, so I don't really blame you if you fast forward and what not, but it was still a blast and I am just glad that I have something to share with you guys. I am #34 and I play safety on defense and fullback on offense.  This definitely is one of those things that I never would have thought about doing, but of course while I am here I just tend to seize the day!

I hope everyone enjoys the Easter Weekend and hopefully Spring is starting to turn its head wherever you may be. Since the weather never really changes here, I am looking forward to more sunshine and warmth :) I am heading to Rota (not Spain, but part of the Federated States of Micronesia) for a weekend trip. I will do a couple of dives and just check out what this small island has to offer. I will post some pictures of that adventure as well.

Love to all and a very Blessed Easter holiday!

Love always
Jen

Bittersweet Weekend...

Hello amazing family!  I hope this finds you all enjoying Spring wherever you are~  it is a beautiful day in the Falls for sure.
The Wingerters had an amazing weekend!  We were all, minus Nick, in San Antonio seeing Sam graduate from AIT.  The army has over 300 brand new combat medics as of last Friday.  Wingy was one of the last to be called, but he did it!!

On a more bummerish note, Nick and his company left Helena Saturday on their way to Ft. Hood Texas for pre deployment exercises.  Since we were in Texas, Marc, John and Ryan went to see him off.  He will be in Texas for a month or two and then they are off to Kuwait until next February.  It was really hard to say good bye knowing I wasn't going to have one of Nick's awesome bear hugs for a year.  But they are prepared and ready to go, so now I just pray for their safety and success of their mission.
Please keep these two soldiers in your prayers as they move on to their next adventures!
Love you all~
Mary

Update

Hey family!! I am so excited to hopefully see almost all of you this summer at Joey & Erin's wedding/family picnic!! It's going to be so much fun! I just wanted to post a couple pictures from our St. Paddy's Day weekend in Chicago and update you all on our happenings. We hung out with our really good friends Paige and Mark. We all had to pick a spirit animal when we posed for a picture. Shane is a dragon, I'm a T-Rex (notice we're both powerful figures) and Paige is a rabbit and Mark is a mole. Don't ask. And then of course we had to get a picture with the green river. It was a chilly, but fun day! Things here are moving along. I am definitely ready for some spring weather and we've been having some exciting things happen for us. First off, Shane got accepted into grad school!!! YAY!!! He will be attending Dominican University here in Chicago to get his Masters in Library and Information Science and hopes to one day be an archivist on a college campus. So it's really exciting that he is starting that journey. He will begin summer classes in May. I'm really proud of him. As for me, I'm still working at the planetarium but I did just get a job offer to start as an assistant teaching artist with a children's theatre here. I'm really stoked about that!! It's just a few hours each week but it's a great way to get my feet wet and really see if children's theatre is my calling. Hopefully by the fall I'll be teaching my own classes! So that's the exciting news on our end. I also wanted to add that I just finished Bri's 7-week "Get It" course and it was SO AWESOME!! Honestly, I am so impressed by her and so proud of her. It really was a great class and she offered it to me at a time when I really needed it. I just can't say enough how much I love this family!!! I hope you all are doing well and I hope you have a great Easter! I love you all and hope to see you soon!! All my love, Molly

So Carter had his big day of turning 11 yesterday! He had to wait until 8:00 at night when everyone was home from sports and and work and play practice to open his present - it was pretty painfully suspenseful for the poor guy. Carter is a great kid who lives for sports. He just started up baseball again and is on two teams this spring. He is a fun and funny kid too. This year at school he had another Carter in his class and instead of being called "Carter P.", he told his teacher that she could just call him Reggie. No real reason behind the name except for that in his football plays, his position was "Reggie". So yes, at school, he is now known as Reggie. His teacher told me later that Carter had been so casual about it, she really thought it was his nickname at home. I hope it doesn't stick past fifth grade! Love that kid and feel lucky to call him ours! Dancin' Machine! Snow cave fun!

Happy 3rd Birthday to the Princess

This is a little early, but we want to wish our little sweetie a Happy Birthday on Friday, March 15th.  She celebrated with a princess party last Saturday with family since her dad has guard this weekend.  She was quite the princess!  The last picture is Charlie and her Noni with the cake that she made for Charlie!  She is amazing!  We had great fun in the new house with all of the room and celebrated this special occasion!  We love you, Charlie girl!!  Grampa and Gramma
