Kuwait Nickolas!
Nick's unit is in Kuwait. He says the weather isn't too bad, no hotter than Texas was the last few weeks. Just very sandy (really?) Anyway, if you want to write to Nick the next few months here is his address:

Happy Birthday Jake!
Yep! Jake is 28 years old today. It is hard to believe that the chunk of a baby is already 28. When he decided to make his entry into the world, Jim had been playing softball all day in a tournament. I started contractions and Jim was like...No Way! There was no stopping the 9 pound Jake! The nurses called him a bowling ball. Maybe that is why he loves bowling so much!
Have a terrific day today Jake! We love you tons~

Brother reunion
Hi y'all from Central Texas.
This past weekend Ben, Nick and Sam were able to come down to Austin to enjoy some time together before Nick's big deployment. Nick has been in Fort Hood for the past month or so. He got a few days leave before they are deployed this coming weekend. His buddy drove him here to Austin on Fri. we went to a birthday party for one of my co-workers. The theme was "nerd" so Nick just wore his regular clothes and the rest of us dressed up. See pictures below.
Sam and Ben joined us Saturday night. We had a heated game of bowling followed soon after with some delicious grub from Whataburger. Sunday morning we grabbed some coffee and hung at the house. That afternoon Deanne joined us for a BBQ adventure to Lockhart which is a world renowned destination for smoked meats. Naturally we ordered the "extra-large family meal." Touted as one of the biggest feasts in Texas we gladly accepted the challenge. Needless to say we all ate til we thought we'd burst then packed up the copious amount of leftovers. We followed the gorging with another competition at Peter Pan mini-golf. Ben has a picture of us there and can post it. After mini-golf we joined a group of friends for some sand volleyball. We finished the day with some leftovers and games at my apartment.
I skipped work Monday and we grabbed breakfast tacos and an excellent placed here called Juan in a Million. The owner typically greets customers with his award winning handshake. After breakfast we thought Wiffle ball would be fun and preceded to drive for hours around Austin looking for an official bat. we finally found one and had a great afternoon reliving childhood summers. Ben and Sam flew out Monday night. Nick, Dee and I watched a movie Monday night.
Back to work Tuesday for me. Nick got to take in the Austin zoo, which is really more of an animal sanctuary. We had dinner at a good place on Lake Travis and actually went to bed fairly early.
Nick drove back to base earlier this morning. Overall it was an awesome weekend and I was so glad I got to spend time with my brothers. I am so proud of Nick and was especially happy to get to see him. It will be hard for all of us to have him away but he is serving his country which is one of the most admirable things one can do.
I am now trying to recover (both bodily and emotionally) from the weekend.
I love this great family and can't wait to see you...soon hopefully.

Happy Mothers Day!
I often think that one day a year is wholly inadequate for recognizing our mothers. They should get a whole season. At least Mothers Day takes place in the spring, which is the season I believe they deserve. Anyway, here's a big shout-out to my Mom, to Ann's Mom, and to the mothers of our grandchildren. Love them all. Have a great day ... er, season.

Dad's Airplane
After all these years I was finally able to see dads airplane fly at an airshow in Chino, CA. There were five P-38's at the show out of seven in the world. They made 10,000 from 1941 to 1945 at the Lockheed factory northwest of Chino in Burbank, CA. The P38 was quite the airplane and it took a skillful pilot to master. All five did fly at once and it was an awesome site.

Cousin Cog's July Service
Kathleen asked me to post this on our family blog. For anyone who is planning on going to Cousin Cog's service it is Saturday, July 6th. Here is the rest of the information:
So glad some of you will be able to come. I think we've almost settled on 11:30 for gravesite and then lunch and a couple of tributes at the new Two Dot Community Center/Fire Hall, followed by cake at the ranch. If you plan to stay the night, you should call soon for a room in Harlo or Martinsdale/White Sulphur. We all may head to the Two Dot Bar Sat night, and you wouldn't want to miss that!
Hope to see lots of our family there!

Kesiah's birthday - a little late
Seems like I just posted her birthday on here, the years are flying fast!! So Kesiah is now 9 - happily nearing the end of 3rd grade. She is distinguished by her height, she is taller than most fifth graders. She has been using that long arm reach to play a mean first baseman this year in softball and is tied with one other girl for the best batting average on the team! She is a witty tyke, still fun and playful. And she sings- along with the rest of her siblings - pretty much all the time. Love her!!
