We're a bit late, but we do want to give a bit shout-out to this week's Birthday Buddies, Jim and Beryl. Jim's birthday was last Sunday, and the big celebration was painting Connie's house. However, there was a bit of Howard's Pizza on Saturday night, along with a couple beers. Rumor has it that Jim got back to SLC on time Sunday for Beryl's Famous Meatballs, so we know they celebrated well.
Beryl's birthday was last Wednesday. Unfortunately, we haven't heard any news about how that celebration went. I guess it could go one of two ways: (1) no news is good news? or (2) they haven't yet recovered enough to make contact with the outside world. Anyway, we hope both birthdays were great. We love ya both!

A Consensus then?
Wow, apparently it just takes Jan to get the cousins moving. Good to know. So it looks like we are doing a present exchange and a calendar, which is awesome. I'm hoping that Jan will similarly take charge of drawing cousin names or delegating that task to another responsible individual. And there was mention of doing family drawings for those of us with them, which I am totally for. So, as for me, I'd love to be put in the drawing as "Hannah's Family" and that should also cut down on some of the confusion of older and younger cousins and second cousins.
Now as for the pictures, I have to give a huge shoutout to Miranda who has sent me a boatload of them already as well as all important dates pertaining to her familia! You rock! I need to make sure that I will have a picture of every family member. I can crop you out of a group shot if that is all I have, but I will need your head to put on your birthday. If you want you and your spouse on an anniversary date, I need a picture of your two heads together as well. Then any other pictures you have, send them along and I'll do all I can with what I receive. My email address is: hannaphil@msn.com (notice the no "h" at the end of my name, sorry that can be confusing.)
I need pictures as soon as possible, hopefully in the next two weeks. (Jan, can you also post a blog asking everyone to get their pictures to me in the next two weeks? Thanks.) Also, if you want to order a calendar, you need to get me the ten smackers by November first. And we can only order the calendar once, then it is lost in cyberspace. My address for such dinero is: Hannah Philpot, 5744 Aberdeen Lane, Stansbury Park, UT 84074. Sounds groovy! Love, Hannah

We're gonna paint your wagon!
Last weekend was paintin' time at the Morris household. To fulfill a rather rash birthday promise to Connie, the five sibs (and a couple of the less stable spouses) joined in a two-day flurry of tape, brushes, and rollers.
These first few photos pose the question, "Is it possible to paint with your mouth closed?" Apparently not.
Ann and Connie measure for picture placement. This face-off between Bill and Connie isn't as bad as it looks. Finally, Tom and Marc work on the fine art of mitering the molding.

Cousins' Christmas
Hannah was very diligent and tried to get cousin comments on what was to be done for Christmas exchanges. Unfortunately, only two responded and the rest did not comment! It is hard to know what you would all like to do when no one voices their opinion. The adult siblings have chosen to draw names. What would the 2nd and 3rd generations like to do?? If you would like to draw names with a maximum of $10 spent, vote yea. If not, vote nay. This needs to be resolved by October 1st. We don't mean to interfere in cousin business, but this needs to be taken care of. The majority rules on this, but if you don't want to participate, just ask that your name be removed from the drawing. We think that the calendar idea is a GREAT idea and that it should be done regardless of whether you draw names or not. Each person will order and pay for as many calendars as they would like. BE SURE TO GET YOUR PICTURES INTO HANNAH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you have a question, post it here. Remember to vote. Connie, Jim and Tom had their hand in this, too. We had a lengthy discussion at dinner and this was a consensus of opinion on our part. So you go cousins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Look
I made a few changes to the blog format. Let me know what you think, and if you don't like it we can revert back to the old way of doing things around here.
Oh, and you can now add videos from your computer to the blog if you'd like.

Happy Birthday, Shannon!
We Need Some Help
I say "we" in the collective sense of the word. We as Notre Dame fans need some help. Suffice it to say the season has been a little disappointing so far. I figured it would be a "growing" year for the Irish, but I never would have predicted an 0-3 start and the shellackings they have taken in those games. It is time to call upon a higher power, whether you believe in God, Buddha, or just Karma, we need something. So all of you Irish faithful in the family, which is just about everyone by my count, come together and say a prayer, light some incense, or do a good deed to get Karma back on our side. We need a win and nothing would be sweeter than getting it against Michigan State at home. I'm counting on you Moore brethren!!

Moore reunion pix
Here are a few more shots from the reunion. My friend and fellow picker, Mike Killeen, hides out on stage.
Here's the blue crew at the top of the butte.
At the Berg ranch, where Fort Logan sits, Buck, George Berg, and Jim do a little fence-rail yarn-spinnin'
This last one may be my favorite -- Kay and Eliza taking a togetherness break at the Boulder Bar Cemetary near Diamond City.

Grandbabies
I am sure that you have all heard the news of the newest addition to the Buyske tribe. And I am sure that you have all seen my comments about how cute they are. But, I just had to put out there for everyone to see that I think unemployment is grand and ihat there is no better place to be right now than here in Anacortes. William and I have taken long walks together; gone to the beach lots; just sat on the curb and chatted about crab grass. It is amazing how times like this make you realize how crazy schedules can actually make a person!! I have been lucky to be able to spend a little over two weeks with this little family and it has been awesome! Yes, Mom, I am moving to Helena - on September 24th to be exact!! This has been a great way to make the cut from Shelby and when I go back to pack, I am only telling two people good-bye. When you do see me you had better hide as I have great baby pictures on my cell phone!
I am posting this under Matt's since I have been erased off the "legal" bloggers.

A Christmas Question
Ok, so I never heard a united agreement on what the plans were for our cousin Christmas celebratory plans. Are we still doing presents? That is great if we are but we need to get the names up on the web. Do we want to do the calendar instead? That's fine too but we need to get going on pictures if that is the case. I am willing to do the calendar this first year if that is the plan- unless someone else is itchin' to do it. Either way, could we come to a consensus via the blog? That would be fan-tabulous!

The House of Borten
How did we spend our Labor Day weekend? Why, laboring of course! We buzzed out to Portland (after a Thursday night layover at the Wells house), arriving Friday. After a relaxing Friday evening, we set to work on Bri and Peter's "office." The paint job was promised on her birthday last June, so it was time to get after it. By the way, Briana and Peter are doing fine. Bri is looking great as she completes her seventh month, and baby Sabina is quite lively.
First of all, here's the Bortens' house, which they've had for about six months. Nice place in a quiet southeast-Portland neighborhood. The "before" picture of the office shows crappy yellow walls, a blue rail, and white upper wall-ceiling. After plenty of prep work, we applied light sand upper, dark sand lower, with white trim. We finished late Sunday night. Monday, we had breakfast downtown, a tour of Briana's expanding spa, and the long drive back to Helena.
Hope y'all had a good holiday. For some of you, it's now "back to school." Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

Beginning again
Hello there my lovely family!
I hope that everyone is doing well and that the new school year is treating all you students and teachers well! We start classes tomorrow and even though I am a junior, I am still a bit nervous. Pretty much just for my Spanish class. I thought I could handle it, then I went into summer and now I am afraid I won't remember a thing! Good thing my roommate and one of my best friends are Spanish majors! So, I am living in a house this year with 5 other girls. Reminds me of growing up...just kidding. Anyhoo, it is a really "cute house" as mom stated about 50 times while moving me in. Dad liked it too. I really like it as well. It is nice to be in a house again since I lived with Dad in an apartment all summer. Last week I spent most of my time finishing organizing the Theatre retreat and the mentor/mentee program we put on. This year we took the time management portion of the theatre mentor program campus wide and had two 2 hour sessions with all the freshman. It went really well and I am glad that all of that is over. It was quite a bit of work. And I am now an expert with the copying machine! Not a whole lot going on in the world of theatre. I have auditions on Sunday for our musical which goes up in November. That should be interesting, since I don't really sing. Oh well. I am also working on ideas for a one woman show to put on in April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I am going to do a free-will donation show and the proceeds will go to The Joyful Heart Foundation. So, I am pretty excited about that. Other than that, I am just trying to work on my patience because right now I feel a huge urge just to go to LA and try out for things and see what happens, but I know I need to finish college. I don't want to be a dumb actress! Well, I think that is all from here in Sioux Falls. Man, I miss the mountains! Love you all and miss you!
Peace,
MJB
